Carrara anyone?
-
I used Carrara 3, years ago, downloaded the demo of Carrara 7, but never got around to it.
I may try the demo again of 8, just for the animation functions. -
SketchyPhysics can't make the same?

aaah Carrara and Daz.
first rule of buying at Daz...don't rush in.
wait.
keep an eye on magazines and their sales.Carrara 7 right now costs about $274.
if you time it right, buy a month of their Platiumn Club, ($29.95) you can then get Carrara for $2. then cancel the PC sub.
they sold Carrara for $1.99 with 6, 7 and they'll do it for 8 for PC members. they always do....

If I remember correctly, they gave Carrara 6 (or was it Shade 6?) away on the free CD in 3D world magazine last year.
-
thats daz alright. I think 6 has been on coverdisks about 4-5 times. first the basic then the advanced.
7 will show up soon as 8 comes out...
-
i like carrara, closer to vue...
And it has sketchup/revit replacement as archi-tools
-

Me too Solo I get Carrara from 1 to 4, years ago...but it was times when there was no Sketchup around
Since then I upgraded to v4 thinking of rendering usage, but never get convinced about it so never used it...
I feel GI very hard to setup for architectural renderings. And camera was not easy to position so...time to give it another try? Hum dont know. -
Solo, Carrara is a great package... I think it is best used to to add Daz and Poser people into environments. It has an excellent landscaping function too. Though not a Vue, it is a big step up than Bryce (which Daz still makes.) Yes, version 6 was given away free about a year ago but version 8 added the bullet physics. The best best is the Pro version which imports .dwg files and other "cad" formats... But it's pricey .. like $550 (now on sale for almost half price.) It has a great green screen function for video and animation is very easy to use. And the renederer is quick with a nice graphics card... The bad thing is the learning curve. The orientation is like the old RayDeram Designer with a touch of Poser. Sketchup is much easier to learn and intuitive but I think if one could integrate the two softwares (like you did with Vue) ... you could truly create some powerful images... Ok.. I'll shut up now.. Love your work Solo by the way... Truly amazing.

The new Carrara 8, soon to be released.
That;s really cool. .. but why do these videos all have music that sounds like it was lifted from a sleazy strip joint?
Not that I know anything about that sort of thing. . .
