SCF slow?

hm... maybe a traceroute might give some hints?
http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=trace&host=www.sketchucation.com
Note that a traceroute takes much longer than a normal request, but maybe there are some big spikes that can give a hint.

I got logged off while I was preparing a comment.
I have been having a similar problem to xrok1.
IE and Firefox both.
Contacted Gaieus by email and discussed it.
Reported broken website with Firefox under Help menu.
I am in North America, but well over 1000miles from xrok1.
Many of you are much closer and are not having these issues.
Having to click more than once on navigation buttons.
Getting logged out in middle of posting.
Difficulty getting logged on. -
I don't understand this, but maybe it will help...I did it twice because sometimes I don't have any trouble.
-
and regular pings?
-
two tries...

Tavi, is having a look at things. I will direct him to this thread in case he has not noticed it. BTW, I am up to date with hosting charges
The whole thing seems erratic

anyone who's having trouble try this. click whatever link (reply, new posts...) then hit your browsers stop loading then click the link again. seems to work for me. ??!!! very strange.
i was wrong, i don't think this actually works.
I does work -- but only sometimes. If it takes more than 5 seconds, ESC and F5...
thats the same thing. esc is stop and f5 is reload.

RIGHT -- If it takes more than 5 seconds, do that.
If that takes more than 5 seconds, do it again.
And again.
And again if necessary...

well, i can't stand this anymore! i'll check back every couple days to see if you guys have it worked out.

How long does a normal ping take?

8 tries later:
(EDIT -- To clarify, the pings occur right away -- the posting of the image took the 8 tries...)

Mine is an average of 56ms. Seeing how this affects some, I wonder if it could be something about the particular route for each user... Is it solely SCF being slow? Absolutely no other site?
-
-
Absolutely no other sites.
If the page will load, it basically loads fine (in the first few seconds). But if the page will not load, then it hangs for a few minutes before timing out.
Which is why we suggested canceling the action if it does not work in the first few seconds, and trying again. Normally after retrying a few times like this, the page will then load...
If you are having this problem, also remember to copy your posting before clicking Submit -- or else you will lose it if you wait for the page to time out...

As Mike said, Tavi's looking into this but he said he had no problems at all either so it is hard for him to troubleshoot something he cannot see/experience. Nevertheless I hope there is a real reason for this, we can find it and that it can be fixed.

I recall the other day, that Java updates were available for my machine. Did anyone else download any of these updates?
I have no idea whether Sketchucation utilizes Java, but could this be an issue?
Like Jean Lemire says: Just ideas. -
No, there's no Java here at all.
-
Gaieus:
Thanks.
Like Forrest Gump says: "One less thang".
