Question: How to model a random perforated surface...

Hello everyone, first of all I would like to say that this is my first post in my favorite Sketchup resource website, and I'm grateful for this community
.I'm struggling with modeling a large perforated surface (a wall) with random sized circular and/or elliptical holes. I thought of using the Protrude Plugin's division feature then using Subdivide on each extrusion, then intersecting the result with my wall, but it was a bad idea because Sketchup crashed when I tried it. The result I wish to have is close to this:
I kind of wish there was a plugin that could generate 2D voronoi-like random patterns on surfaces. If there was a way to convert the square divisions produced by Protrude.rb into circles and ellipses then that would be amazing. Are there any suggestions from the Sketchup gurus?

Thanks numbthumb, but I was thinking more of how to produce random sized holes. Using the protude.rb plugin I managed to do random sized openings but I'm limited to squares/rectangles.
I wish to replace these random squares/rectangles with circles/ellipses. I know I can do them manually but I'm planning to do a lot so it wouldn't be practical... So I'm asking if there is a faster way to do it.

My thought would be to use this excellent plugin in conjunction with numbthumb's suggestion
Still a lot of manual clicking but faster than doing it completely with SU's native tools

I was thinking of using the component spray tool by making the component cut an opening, thus being able to spray a bunch of circular flat components at random sizes onto a surface.
I tried to create an example but for some reason I cannot get the component spray tool not to overlap each other, if I can solve this then it shound work for what you need. -
All great suggestions so far. I would also suggest maybe placing all your circles and using a plugin like my Scale and Rotate randomly script. Place all the circles somehow, then run my script on them to get them to all adjust their sizes. Might still require a lot of work to move them all around so they don't overlap I suppose.
Plus one of the most interesting features of those circles is their placement. They look to have been placed with a fractal algorithm. So far no plugin in SketchUp that I know of does that yet. It wouold not be hard to do, if you know fractal geometry mathematics - which I do not.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I think those tools (booltools, spray, scale/rotate) would be perfect for the job. Yes Chris I agree that the point of interest is the placement, but I don't know geometry math and that's why I thought of using Protrude's (greeble) divison to create some kind of a mathematics-based placement at least...
I see the community active and interested in a fractal and a voronoi plugin for SU, so hopefully we'll see a good one in the near future. But until then, for the meantime I think clicking and adjusting manually with the mentioned tools will be totally fine

I think there is a voronoi plugin, but it seems like people have more problems than success with it.
