Savin time whilst making meshes
-
Hello,
I can make quite complex aircraft but they take a huge amount of time. I usually use 2-view to get top and side view of something, then i trace it all with bezier curves (which x1000 the polys, but looks good). Then i scale a semi-sphere to match both the top view and side view. Every few millimetres i have to push/pull, scale, orbit, scale, pan, and redo that. The amount of time is massive that is needed. Is there anyway i can do this in quick? Like, for example, with the follow me tool? This method of making things with the scaling might sound like garbage to you, but I discovered it for myself, nobody taught me, and till now I am very happy with it. If you don't get what I mean, please tell me, I will explain further and look for pics i posted in a different forum in my tutorial on how to model a plane. Thanks loads,

Find my ExtrudeEdgesByRails script and other related tools as a start, also try SubDivideAndSmooth - there are lots of useful tools... browse the forum...

Thanks for the extrude edges plugin! I don't see the point of spending money on plugins though, although s&s is amazing.

And I don't see the point on spending money for cars for instance - because I do not need it. Other folks still find cars useful and I don1t argue, for them cars may be useful.
Everyone spends money on what he needs (or wishes).

But that's why it's "I". I couldn't buy a car anyway, i'm 13

Okay, the whole thing was just a side joke anyway.
But say in "real life" when an architect makes $40-50 per hour and modifying a complex mesh through 3-4 hours, a $ 20 plugin which helps doing it within say half an hour (or even if one hour) is obviously a time/money saver.
And maybe I would also need a car if I lived in the countryside and not just about 5 minutes walk for my regular corner bar (and less than a minute from the main square of my city).
