I have recently painted a few things to give out as presents. I figured it was a good option since I'm broke and I can't afford to buy much. But I think Parent's and in-laws will like these plenty.

This is for my parents. It is their home in a bottle. Sketched in ink, the watercolored. It was about a 7' (2m) long strip of paper that I watercolored, then rolled up. Done in a way so that the objects in the middle of the rool are tallest so they can be seen, and the foreground was short so as to let the middle be seen, etc. They live in Ivins, UT (which is very close to St. George), and they live at the foot of a huge red cliff. They grow watermelon, have quail visitors, an orchard, a beautiful church in their town and a pickup truck. all as shown πŸ˜„

And here is a shot of it outside its bottle. Its a little easier to see the depth and height and how its rolled.

And my mother in law had asked for a picture of a barn a long time ago. So I finally got around to painting a barn. Most people are familiar with the Tetons from the Wyoming side. I painted this on the Idaho side, as that is where my family is from. My father's uncle owns a barn fairly similar to this, and the Tetons loom in the background.

            Nice gift Chris,

Being that I'm basically in the same boat as you, you gave some great ideas too.

            Merry Christmas!

            Rick

And here are three more. These go together in a single frame. I'll try to get a photo of it framed. And these are smaller - 4" x 6" for the entire paper (10cm x 15cm). And the painting is obviously smaller than the paper.

Aha! I got a couple photos of the paintings framed. I also included another of the painting in a bottle, from the top so you can see how its all rolled up like a scroll painting (its a little blury, oops! and the frames are not lit so well... ).

                Thanks for looking!,

Nice work Chris. I love the idea of rolling the painting up. Very cool.

Very nice to see some art done outside of the digital world. I like the outside the jar painting too, but it's a nice old-fashioned craftsy look inside.

As far as the plugin goes, I think it was Myhand 2.0, right?

I think it's great to produce gifts by themselves . Something homemade comes from the heart.

They remind me of Gary Larsons 'Far Side' artwork...

Yes indeed. He's a 'hero' of mine. So is the Winnie the Pooh style - old or new (except for the new 3d Super Sleuth series, its not soft enough).

Love those pictures in Jar, what a nifty and creative idea.

I too gave some of my clients framed Sketchup images of their homes, as gifts this Christmas....
                                        They were gobsmacked with them.
