I'm really curious about some nicknames in this forum... ๐Ÿ˜›

I'll get the ball rolling: My usual online nickname is Arqui3D , but when I signed up for the avsforum (first forum I joined) it was already taken, so I brainstormed for a moment and chose the most obvious nickname, my nationality, which I've reused for most forums since then.

So, what does you nickname mean, and why do you use it here?

My nickname is my first name. At the original @Last forums most members used their own names.

Anssi is Finnish for Anselm. It means (in ancient Germanic) "Divine helmet" or "Divine protector"

        Hi Miguel,

I've been using 'rclub24' since 2001. It was a piss take of a pop group called S-Club7, who were particularly bad [IMO].

Now any site i join i use the same tag and it's also my PS3 id. So any gamers out there feel free to add as friend.

          Interestig topic.

When (back in the 90's) we set up the first computer networks at the (Ancient) History department, we named the computers. There was a Sulla and there was a Gaius (for the beginning). I used to work on Gaius most of the times.

Then came this "social networking" thingie. Not necessarily just professional forums like this one but everywhere. Do you think Gaius (as a nick) is freeanywhere? Haha...
But I have had luck with Gaieus (well, most of the times) so far.

Plus there was a certain "personal" reason, too, but in the lack of the consent of the concerned party, I would not wish to reveal the details. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

(But don't rush and take it where "Gaieus" is still available) ๐Ÿ˜‰

          Gai...

              my name is luciano,

              luciano pavarotti's name was luciano.

i got called pav, for as long as i can remember.

My nickname is actually my real name ๐Ÿ˜› , nothing special.I sometimes use on other forums Marian87 and Marian1987. I used to have a fondness for the nickname Snake....good luck trying to get that nick now. An interesting fact is that in most other languages Marian is a girl's name and it can create some....weird situations. And from what i know, Marian means <something belonging to the Virgin Mary> i'm not very certain of that.

Another interesting aspect we could include in this thread could be our avatars, some are really interesting, just an idea.

                    Edit: The Avatar Story ๐Ÿ˜›

Well, it's just my face as you probably have guessed. I don't usually look good in pictures, especially ones made by me with the camera in front of my face, but this one was unusually acceptable.
It was made in may 2009 in Cheile Turzii (Turda's Gorge).
                    Here's a more telling photo:P

I'm called a lot of things, some not so nice but on the original @Last Forums I logged in one morning to discover that some of the guys were calling me Mayor Mike! The previous night / day, Brad Schell had 'bestowed' the title, Mayor of the SketchUp Forums on me for a little turn I did for a student that could not afford a student license in South America. The name has stuck with the SU Old Hands.

being mayor doesn't give you the right to have an avatar that makes me feel sick.

                          Boo was my wife's cat.
                          Fred was my cat.
                          Lay is my last name.

I use it because it was the first email account I ever created for my family. It stuck and has followed me everywhere.

My avatar is usually changing all the time. Recently they have been from Dmitry Maksimov, you can see his work here:

Frederik - is my second "first name"...
I chose Frederik because I know in many countries Kim is often a female name (although it's also used as a male name in the same countries) and to avoid any confusions (misunderstandings), I decided to use Frederik... ๐Ÿ˜„
