Processing language :for artists, architects...
-
In fact with "Processing" you can mix any supports(drawings 2d, 3D, images, sounds, videos, texts, interactions users) and control all the process!
You can explore any research domains following your imagination!
Free and participative as code yet created is free access for anybody! The only little problem is that you must learn and write a language for assemble old codes or your news lines!
(but more easy than all others existing )
Have fun with it!here many videos of possibilities
You will be surprise by the diversity of applications -
That is incorrect.
-
Chris,
that is a technical possibility.
Spiritual, it's much more easier... to realize such 'performance' -
hmmm the reply was more theosophical than I expected Cornel but each to their own. Can somebody just tell me what it does is simple terms? I figure it requires programming skills related so I'll probably have no use for it but it would be nice to know.

So look this (without interaction), or this (with interaction)
And you have source, so you will have a view of the language
Similar than basic not more no lessMore examples (java P5)on the site
PS And why not read "the Welcome to Processing" by the Authors? Interresting even you will don't program
Seems better than all I can tell@unknownuser said:
Don't start by trying to build a cathedral
sure -
for example
here the video
here the prog online
here the code -
@Mitcorb
I don't know what to say (I have not the last version of Java and all works fine for me
If you have Windows
I believe that better is to load version "Windows + Java" even Java is yet installed inside your computer
Hope this help@Tim
This prog is amazing : you can find any sort of visual + sounds + interactions
This site gives a thousand of it! + source code -
Its parametric art. The programmer writes parameters that define how the art will form itself. The example image Pilou put up is from my favorite aplet. Its beautiful to watch it unfold. There are some other great ones on the complexification site. I like his style. I first found the site about 5 years ago and I've always wanted to make one since. I've tried a few times in SU w/Ruby with no luck. Maybe its time to try again now that I can do a little more with Ruby.

Processing !
and "Open Source" so you can use any works, modify,...etc drawing, 3D, Images, sound, videos, interaction!Thank you for your suggestion. This is a really funny tool. Today I draw my new website-logo (a simple bee) with processing.
It's very interesting to learn coding with a tool like this. I guess, I will order the book of Ira Greenberg about processing.
It is similar to Adobe Macromedia Flash. Also a great feature is adding OpenGL-Libraries. This makes scenes and animations very smooth.
Cheers
