Soap Skin & Bubble sketchup 7 keeps crashing - using Mac
-
First time using soap skin & bubble, or any ruby script for that matter. I managed to put all the files in the right places to get the Soap Skin & Bubble up and running in sketchup 7 on a mac. But it keeps crashing sketchup, I get to the stage when I select the line work then press skin, it allows me to enter number of segments than when it starts to divide it crashes. I also tried it on sketchup 6 and it crashes also, and its not the particular shape Im trying to skin, its any shape.
Let me know if anyone is having issues with this, or how to resolve it. I contacted the author, but he is on holiday at the moment so it will be 3 weeks till he gets back to me.
It looks like a fantastic tool
many thanks

Hi guys
thanks for getting back to me, Im really new to the ruby scripts, specially to install them as well. But as soon as Dylan said 'Is this the only Ruby you have installed?' I remembered that i was trying to install another ruby script called 'skin' which didnt work, so I had a look at the directory of the ruby scripts folder
Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/tools
I deleted the other ruby script called 'skin' than fired up sketchUp the 'Soap and Skin and Bubble' ruby script finally worked. At last its fantastic. But it seemed it had a conflict with another ruby script.
thanks for your help

Hello,
I'm new in sketchup on Mac.
I have put the SoapSkinBubble directory and SoapSkinBubbleTools.rb in the plugin directory.
This dos not work.
No tools appear in Sketchup.(Dutch operating system)
-HD/Programma's/Google SketchUp 7/Sketchup
Then I have to right click on the sketchup Icon and choose "Show Package Contents"
Now I get the contents directorySo what thou's I'm doing wrong?

That's not where you place plugins on Mac. See this FAQ: http://code.google.com/intl/nb/apis/sketchup/docs/loading.html

?
I thought Tools was meant for Google Sketchup plugins, and Plugins for third-party tools...

β¦ Plugins you download on your mac SHOULD go to:
Library/Application Support/Google Sketchup 7/Sketchup/plugins -
The earlier Versions are going into the Tools folder. Seems that it works now under Plugins, too.
You're right thomthom, but there are some tools, like Pixdim, which installs automaticly into the Tools folder by the installation routine. For the Mac you'll find out that some troubles with Plugins depends on what path you choose. If HD/...is not working, I always try out the users/...path which contains also a Sketchup folder.

i used to say this a lot around here but i haven't been posting in a while but....
sketchup actually does not have a plugin folder in the users/ path.. i challenge anyone to do a clean install of sketchup and find that folder.
installing podium puts the folder there and that's when things start getting screwy.
