          Sorry for going OT.

I don't have a link to any collection of V-Ray tutorials. What I've done is Google specific things which I wanted to accomplish. But the key here, as I mentioned earlier, is that you get useful info from any version of V-Ray. Even from tutorials aimed towards other rendering engines as the concepts are often the same.

V-Ray has allot of knobs and buttons and it takes a while to get to grips with them all. I often stage micro tests. When there's a certain effect I want to create, or feature to test, I make a very small scene that's quick to render and then adjust one or two parameters at a time to see what they do and what kind of effect it produces.

The Spot3D online V-Ray Manual is very useful as it has many examples, saving you the time to set up micro tests.

I mentioned the vray.com site, it also has a manual, which is VfSU specific. It looks to be based on ASGVis' manual, but filled in with more info and examples.

There's a number of ways to produce a certain effect in V-Ray, so often asking a specific question in a forum is of more value than a generic tutorial.

            Baby's Wardrobe 2.skp

Here's the project i'm trying to render. It's a wardrobe for the new arrival we're expecting in july.

I'd like to render this with a semi gloss finish so i could show the lady boss what the finished product looks like. To quote herself ' why does sketchup look like a cartoon?'

So i've inherited a laptop with SU6 and VRay and have started to teach myself its workings. So far it winning the battle and i'm losing.

ps, by inheriting i mean that the current global economic meltdown has forced an architect friend of mine to put away the pen and pencils and join the law enforcement brigade.

I'll have a look at the wardobe later. It's getting late here.

Which VfSU version do you have? Original, SR1.0 or SR1.5?

Yea, there's lots of architects being made redundant where I live. I'm not an architect, but a modelmaker in an architectural company so I, and my friends from uni, is also affected. Just visited two friends in London that are currently without jobs and a third where it's touch and go...

I found these tuts on the web, but for some reason I always have trouble with the rar extension from rapidshare (I have winzip and 7-zip) so if someone would be kind enough to upload them as zips and hopefully we can all learn something as there's been quite a few Vray questions here lately. Thanks.

My apolozies, I had no idea that they were paid tuts, they were listed on several sites with no mention of being pirated and as I couldn't get them to open I had no idea what they were except for the description which sounded like some good Vray tuts, my bad.

It happens, last week I was looking for a good tropical grass texture and hunted online for one, I found a site with a link to a whole grass bundle of over 20 brilliant ones, so I linked to it only to find it was a rapidshare download of prime Cornucopia content.
So I guess that as a rule of thumb if it comes from rapidshare the chances are good that it's funky.

You're not the first to make this mistake. I saw these posted on PPB some time ago as well.

                              RS links usually are dodgy.

Otherwise there wouldn't be need to upload them there but they could be visited and downloaded from the original, legitimate source.

And yeah, true that it's so easy to find resources yet often hard to tell if they are legit or pirated.

Yup, often you come across people posting links where it comes across as they made it them self. Been burned there a few times.
