That's good. Will Shortz gave this puzzle on NPR a few years ago. My wife rattled off the answer before he could finish repeating it. Made my head spin.

W L C ?
this one has been stuck in my head all day.. i'm hoping it's part of a sequence such as the last two (numbers, days of the week) and not something like the guesses so far on it..
the closest i've come (i realize i'm forcing this one.. possibly due to frustration) is O.

How about this:
Think of a common (at least in US it's common) food in 8 letters. Remove one letter and rearrange the remaining letters to name another food. Now, remove one more letter, rearrange the remainder to name another food.
- meatloaf
- oatmeal
- tamale
-
Its not a sequence, its a phrase stronlgy related to the current discussion

ha.. nope..
after you answered though, it made me wonder if a french speaking person would be able to get it.. i think french might be okay but i'm not too sure about all languages.. better stick to english to find the next line in that series. -
-
Well done jeff I was starting to think no one would get it.

bingo! nice work remus
the puzzle is called a look-say.. basically, look at the line then say/write what you see..
1 = one one.. there is one one so the next line is 11
11= two ones.. there are two ones so the next line is 21
etc.. -

i barely know any french but it appears to work in spanish as well.. uno,dos,tres,quatro,cinco,seis..
my guess for the next letter would then be 'C' for cero.. if C is wrong then my guess is:
whatever the first letter is in the translation of 'zero' in french..
-
zero is zero...
