From what i remember, this is a sketchup model of Manhattan that I got this from sketchup forum from http://www.sketchup.com back in version 4. I looked through google sketchup forum but couldnt find the original post. This is not the most accurate model of manhattan but it comes handy when i needed 3d model of the city for my project.
file is about 27mb and credit goes to whoever made this model.

I tried to download it but for some reason it timed out and it refuses me to try again by citing that my IP has already downloaded file and cannot retry unless i become a premium member, any other link?

I'm downloading it right now with no problems...

But when I try to open it, it causes Sketchup to bog down... it's only 27.7mb... I have files larger than this that open in a couple of seconds...

download went fine (first had to wait 2 minutes),
but after opening it doesn't react anymore (or i'm not patient enough)

Qué sais je? there is still so much to be learned...

I let it try to open overnight at work on my 3.0ghz processor w/ 2gigs of ram. It was open when I got here but my computer was frozen...

I'm planning to buy a new laptop at the weekend; let's see how 4Gb of RAM tackles this ...

I doubt it will help. The file must be corrupted. I have a number of files much larger than this and they open fine.

Actually I've opened up the file fine. It did take about 2mins to load. I have Core i720 and Quadro FX3700 on my desktop, which helped.

I have also opened it, but it makes sketchup freeze up for about 5 min on my computer (Q6600)

Were either of you able to purge then get it to behave?

If you are able to get it to work... would you mind posting the purged file?

It is behaving strangely! None of the buildings caste shadow except for the bridges and some of them have the trianglated geometry that reminds of 3ds import... I'll try and see if I can clean it up.

I couldn't even open the file (3.8 GHz processor, 2 Gigs of RAM) 😲

                                    Gai...

Oh wow. This can't be a native sketchup model!? It has 2 surfaces for everything!! and missing surfaces for large part of the gound...
This will take too long to clean up sorry guys. Manhattenv1.jpg

i think the person who made the model
converted it from some other application.
i had no idea it was double faced 😆

it usually takes my laptop about 5 minutes of freezing sketchup to load

Could an Okino converter or something similar strip out the double faces?
