Ive been using V-Ray for a couple of months now and found it to be quite good, but there is a small part of me that keeps thinking maybe Maxwell is better, before I get into the routine of using V-Ray all the time I want your advice on which you think is best suited to an interior designer? I only ask as some of the renders Ive seen on the net done on maxwell look amazing!

      Thanks in advance all!

Interior design, does that require a fast turn around of designs and illustrations?
How photoreal do you want to achieve?

Maxwell is probably the best for realism out there, but the price you pay is time.

Fast turn around isnt too important, a lot of my designing is done with a pencil. Its the end product which I want to look as 'photoreal' as possible which is important to me. So I guess with that in mind you would suggest Maxwell...

In theory, Maxwell would be the way to go if quality is your prime concern, and you're not too concerned about time. However, I wouldn't get it, if I were you, as Maxwell is far too buggy for what it costs. I have a license, and trust me, if NextLimit had its offices 'round where I live, I would've paid them an unpleasant visit already.

Maxwell is an overly expensive beta. There, I said it.

              I prefer V-Ray due to it's speed.

I use Vray as well. And I quite like it. It does not offer Maxwell's extreme precision, but it does come fairly close. Shame it doesn't have MultiLight.

As soon as Vray has MultiLight, and SU goes 64 bit (so that Vray can too), I'm tossing Maxwell off of my computer. That is, if NL doesn't come up with a free update that fixes all of the current issues. (Maxwell's pretty cool in itself - but those bugs ... 😡 ). I am most certainly not prepared to pay NL for another faulty product. Vray has some issues too, but those are quite minor to the ones Maxwell has.

I any case, the best way for anyone to find out which of the both products he/she likes best, is to get the demos and use those very extensively.

Oh yeah ... please don't overlook Indigo either, if unbiased is your thing. Great SU plugin, excellent output, unbeatable price.
