is it possible to define an action (by icon or shortcut key) which unsoftens a selection in one go without having to go to smooth/soften and move the slider all the way down?

and is the reverse (one click soften)?

            THANKS GUYS!!!

Pixero for a new interesting plugin

Matt for a genius 'back to the future plugin' - works just great even for groups and all!
(and it's much easier for quick smooth/unsmooth)

will see if i can create a toolbar to the commands..

                          Dear Matthieu,

I have downloaded and installed the plugin. When I open SU I find a toolbar but no Icons. Is this an oversight?

                          Kind regards,
                          Bob

Bob, you need both the plug in and the folder called smooze (with the icons)

                              Dear CadFather,

Many thanks for that. As an aside, are you Italian? I ask because I spent a very happy year at the University of Trento.

                              Kind regards,
                              Bob

                                Dear Matthieu and Cadfather,

I am a little confused about what to download. I have the icons showing, but nothing works. The last thing I downloaded and tried is the very last .zip file posted by Cadfather.

                                Regards,
                                Bob

                                  Hi CadFather !
I updated the code, with another tool. It softens edges whose angle normal faces is below 20 degrees.
So now you've got three tools :

                                  Mildly Soft edges
                                  Completely Soft edges
                                  Unsoft edges

You forgot a bit of code at the end...

                                  if (not file_loaded?("Soften.rb"))

Now the tool will be loaded just one time !

and the code is also changed following the RickW notices (I hope 😉 )

Good luck for the next icon 😄

                                  EDIT : Version 1.1

will post a working final version from Matt very soon - need to finish a couple of things first.

Bob, yes one of those... 😉

Hi Matt, i have a problem with the new version: nothing happens 😕

still works with the old one

i have updated the script with the 3 icons (changed the name for the new command icon)

small update for whoever likes this idea:

tweaked Matt's plugin so i get 2 icons (if you ever needed) enable in view > toolbars > soften
                                        (i removed menus in plugins)

now it is a quick step!

                                        icons.png

                                        Thanks Matt! 👍
