Are you ready for SketchUp 7 news?
-
Err sound's like you are letting the cat is out of the bag. I'd rather have received the email in total surprise. But I'll have to wait for the email to determine if the advanced notice dampens the effect.
Hey lets put our guesses here and see who's right:
Sketchup 7 will
-
have a new and improved user interface.
-
will have a built-in photo real renderer ( who did they buy out) .
-
will support the import of Google Earth models directly.
-
will have built-in nurbs modeling.
As long as the program continues to do what 6 and 5 did and does it more efficiently I really don't much care what else it does.
-
-
ooo...that's pretty exciting you tease. I'm sure this would meet any non-disclosure agreement standard: Coen, on a scale of 1-16.5 how would you personally rate what will be announced on Sat? 16.5 being the highest.
-
I'll start holding my breath now.
If it supports multiple processors, I'm going computer shopping.

I've been holding my breath; been computer shopping......
-
Not only integration with Youtube but full compatibility with some social networking software that Google pushes in South America!
Ha! There! Cat's out of the bag now!
-
Bah! Humbug!
-
Im looking forward to hearing the news! Fingers crossed it benefits me.
-
I just bought the subdivide and smooth plugin this week, so I know that Google will announce that they're releasing SU7 with fantastic S+S capabilities.
-
better than no news, whatever happens, even better if its something good.
-
As Nietzsche would put it: yay!
-
performance, performance and more performance improvements...
it's all I need
...
A new fancy interface is also appreciated
-
Contrary to views expressed by some people in this thread, I'm actually looking forward to this! Thanks for the heads-up Coen, really lifted my spirit a little today. The lack of any information on the next release of SU has had me up in arms.
-
I hope it can manage better very big models. Anyway I can't wait for the new version
-
fantastic! there is a 7! this news has made my day
-
Thanks Coen, I wait with baited breath.
Lets hope SU7 has multi-cpu support as well as higher poly count support.Regard,
-
Fixing high poly support would probably mean tangling severely with the SU core code.
Since SU nowadays is heavily connected to Google Earth, each modification to the core would have direct consequences to GE.
That makes development more difficult as two pieces of software need to be updated simultaneously. So my guess is that the new features we will see, will be things 'on top' of the existing program. Maybe some features to make low poly modeling for GE a bit easier: better GE export, slightly improved photomatch....Things like that...
and of course the youtube, facebook
-
yes , i´m ready
-
I just hope Google did some work on LayOut as well!
-
Oh Rapture!
-
you know, I feel a bit like a little child awaiting its birthday. I hope I will be able to fall asleep tonight - this is so exciting
