                what a great enhancement, Didier!

the vertex spray function is very neat. would have come in handy for a project I had to finish on frieday πŸ˜„

this fantastic new feature gives me the idea of a "selected face spray tool" - basically a combination of this new vertex-spray option and the spray-pressure variable. you select the faces of the terrain, where you want trees and choose the density (like 70%). now the plugin sprays only on the selected faces of the terrain, but regardless of the vertex distribution (because the density of vertexes can be very irregular in my terrains, unless i use the terrain-reshaper πŸ˜‰ )

                but first enjoy your holiday!
and thanks again for the update 😍

                  Didier thanks for your efforts!
One can get interesting things with new vertice mode.

But there's bug in vertex+no to keep vertical . It's not working (see lonely cylinder over mesh, in all other cases components stay vertical)
To "keep vertical" unchecked will result the component to be placed vertical to mesh, it'll work this way, right?
P.S. I'm not programmer (my wife is- it's enough for one family) but you're one step from "spray along vertices of curve" ? πŸ˜‰
P.P.S. Do you shine in ruby field only or there are some lisp routins of yours?

it is really great.with this new vertex-function the component-spray tool goes far beyond a mere tool for creation of random assemblies of components. you can now use it to accurately place entities, like in the following short example:

create a rastered face (with the sanbox tool) and create a component (of a column for example (Gaieus, don't be mad with me because of the colum's base shape - it's not ment to be historically accurate πŸ˜„ )

                      http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/6666/compspray1ke3.jpg

then delete all the faces arround a shape you want the columns to be placed along and select the remaining faces

                      http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/4869/compspray2yt3.jpg

now use the new vertex mode of the component spray tool (make sure, that random rotation is inactive), and you can easily get some nice architectural assemblies

                      http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/6425/compspray3bw6.jpg

great, Didier - I love this new tool!!! 😍

PS: it is even easy to place components along rounded shapes...

                        Didier is da man !

Great work! I'll be trying it this week as soon as I find the time.
The vertices mode sounds like a very useful option.

plot-paris... I haven't used this tool yet. 😳 but I've read the 'manual'... and I think you can already select faces and spray only on the faces... like your wish you mention below...

oh, and Fletch, you are right. it is already possible. it even automatically chooses the "spray on selection" option, when some faces are selected - so cool! πŸ‘

I am trying to use the component spray tool to place trees on terrain from google earth. The trees intersect the ground fine on the hills but in the valley they are hovering above the surface. What am I doing wrong??

                                          Thank you guys
