    Can anyone help?
i am creating a house model - it was starting to get slow, so i downgraded the images i was projecting
which didn't make a lot of difference, so i tried experimenting by gradually taking parts away then saving,
but the file is same size (its not a large model) 11.5mg i use a mac
    thanks

Have you purged unused components and materials?

Were you required to walk 500 miles? Were you advised to walk 500 more?

if i am not wrong what really matters is the poly count (edges and faces). sometimes a big file behaves better than a small one because of that.

That sort of thing has happened to me before. Eventually I deleted the whole thing just to see what would happen and my file was still crazy big. What I did was turn on all the layers copy everything and paste it into a fresh skp file - sort of a super-purge!

              you are absolutely right, Edson.

if you have structured your model well, with components where possible to reduce the file size, even a small model can bring your graphic card to it's limits.

try scene 6 in this model for example. look at the file size (only about 130 kb). but the poly count is enormous and therefore your computer will have difficulties to cope with it...

In addition to purging unused components, you might need to purge unsued materials, too.
