      Dear All,

You can change lines to construction lines by using Rick Wilson's xlines.rb, and kind young Rick has made it free.

Just restart SU and the plugin should be listed under the 'plugins' menu or the 'tools' menu.

Try selecting the lines you want to change and then right clicking them. There might be an option there.

                Dear James,

Jim Foltz has a construction line pencil tool on his website. I use it frequently for adding local construction lines.

                Kind regards,
                Bob

                  Dear James,

I have asked Jim if he would look at making a circle construction line tool. If I need such I draw a circle, delete the face (if drawing on a group/component)and then use xline to turn the circle into construction lines. The only problem with that is the circle segments are all disconnected and cannot be reconnected.

The ideal would be a connected and editable circle of construction lines, preferably with a construction point at the centre, and grouped on creation so that it can be easily moved around.

                  Kind regards,
                  Bob

                    James, Bob,

In the image (cube) you provided I can see the option 'Convert to Xlines'.
Are they construction lines i.e. short guides with the same properties as guides?
Are they going to be deleted with the 'Delete Guides' option in the 'Edit' menu? Can you snap to them while drawing?
I use the cline.ruby and don't see the option 'Convert to Xlines' in the right click context menu. So this must be another ruby. It there a button to select a [guide line pencil] to start drawing these lines like in cline.rb?

                    t.i.a. for replying,
                    Wo3Dan

                      Dear Wo3Dan

You will need to go to http://www.smustard.com and download Rick Wilson's xline.rb script.

Yes, unfortunately, the construction lines are deleted along with native SU construction lines. If after converting to a cline the cline crosses a normal line then you can snap to the intersection. If the cline has a floating end (on a face but not connected to another line entity) then you cannot snap to the end. If you need to do this then place a cpoint at the end of the line before using the xline script.

                      I hope this is clear.

                      Kind regards,
                      Bob

                        Dear James,

                        No problem!

Of course, we should both be out enjoying the sunshine, shouldn't we.

                        Regards,
