Are you ready for SketchUp 7 news?
-
well, I think every hour of waiting added 5% of anticipation.
I am at 185% now - that I something even my last girlfriend didn't achieve when she was on vacation for three weeks (and she was quite a feast for the eyes)!
when Coen finally releases the news, a whole bunch of lunatics will have tears of joy in their eyes - all arround the world!
that is really something worth waiting for, isn't it?to Paul: perhaps we should start writing furious letters to Google, telling them to stop bothering Coen (but we won't do that until we know your theory is right...)
-
Paul,
Another (your) guess… but I think you may be right. I came to the same conclusion the very first time that I saw the announcement. Why should Google wait for Coen or anyone else to be the first? It is going to be either “all together” or “Google first”.
Personally I don’t mind waiting (quite) a bit longer. There isn’t much that I can not do with SU6 right now.
Joking about what is going on backstage is okay but what’s sad is that for some people SU6 all of a sudden doesn’t seem to work anymore. Get it!!!
As said before: quite a bunch of impatient people here on these forums.
So to all, please get on with your work or continue joking about it if you really wish.Wo3Dan

It appears you all just envy at the good LEGALIZED news Coen enjoy since last weekend there in Holland
-
It might be that you're right, Paul... I suppose only Coen can confirm this...
However, what I don't understand is, that if it's that obvious, why couldn't Coen just say so..??
All these stories about no sleep in 48 hours (+) etc. doesn't make sense...Coen could just have told us that he received "a call" from Google and because of this he is unable to fulfil what he had promissed us... Wouldn't we all understand a message like that..??
Based on the comments Coen have posted, I would assume it's something different and that Coen is struggelig with setting-up a Newsletter system...
If not, then I find the messages posted a bit strange...Any way... I will possess myself with patience and await Coen's newsletter...
Although my curiosity has also been awakened, I'm sure it's worth waiting for... -
We will just have to wait for a new announcement on the announcement of the announcement
-
a bet we get answer on june the 11th
-
Okay, here's my guess: Coen thought of a funny joke to play (innocent April Fool's sort of joke), but some computer demon decided to get in his way. While fighting the computer gods all this hubbub started, so his little joke needed to get hilarious...and the more complaints get posted, the more he has to work on what is now probably a monster to him...?

Hear's a thought about timing:
On Monday June 9th the Apple WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) starts in SanFran, a lot of OSX apps are currently releasing updates as one of the many things going on are Apple Design Awards......Now maybe just maybe Google are hoping to win one (Of course they are stupid!) and for that they need a nice shiny new/updated application.......
Now they arnt going to want to announce on the day as the launch will be lost in a sea of other launches not to mention the cough iPhone 2.0 cough so.....
I think we'll hear soon, real soon
PS
I think this is what anglaret was hinting at. -
anglaret,
not like in a hard-competitive-business-like company, where managers are widely waged, where big benefits justify our exigences ... ///
no.
and thanks for understanding my impatience and frustration.johnsenior1973,
thank you.

FormZ is such a piece of 1990's foolishness. I have difficulty believing the company that produces it is capable of any innovation...not that we have been seeing much progress in that area anyway.
-
I have to agree with Lewis, FormZ is rubbish and is really not on the same playing field with many of the current modelers. It is old technology and just keeps getting a decorative facelift instead of a complete overhaul to bring it into the 21st century. I find it funny how so many companies are following in Sketchup's footsteps, even going so far as to use the term push/pull. It is a realt testament to the power and ease of use of Sketchup.
As far as the news from Coen, I have to agree we need to give him some time and space. If he did jump the gun on a announcement only to get his twins tightened into a vice by Google then that is understandable why we have not heard anything. He is only try to keep all of up to date on any new news, but we need to understand that he is under a NDA and he can not break that just to fill us in on what he may know. Time will tell what the news is and nobody is really going anywhere until then. So keep modeling and keep checking in...but bitching is getting us nowhere.

True! If Google would implement high poly support (and a couple of other tidbits), then SU would take the 3D world by storm, I think.

When I hit the Submit button you will know why it took so long. That said, it's not an excuse.
Coen,
I do not understand this...can you expand on this at all? Maybe it the lack of sleep for all of us but I am a bit lost now.

Wait and see, we can be surprised...is not impossible.
-
Scott, I think (assume) Coen means when he finally publishes his news, you will see why it has taken so long.
Coen, as far as I am concerned, no need for you to feel ashamed. You da man!
-
I agree...no need to apologize or feel bad I am sure if you could you would be spilling the beans.

Man Coen - only 60 pages? Sheez.
Wow.

~120 and more sketchup addicts...

Well it sounds like a whole lot of silence from Google about any new developments...at least for the time being.
