your scene is fairly well lit, but the ceiling is blown out, also I can't tell where the light is coming from as you have no light sources in the image (eg your windows look too dark, the spotlight isn't on.)
Watch the floor relectivity too, it looks like theres an inch of water in the room.
Oh and change the barney rubble sofa please!!!

form follows function my friend.. you dont seem to have any floor slabs or walls
your ground level floor to ceiling height is way to big for a house too.

It's that time...you know, when I insist this model gets the 'Render this' treatment.
So, if it's okay with you lets get going.Hear, hear!

RE: How to keep hierarchy from Sketchup to 3D Studio?
Do you mean the 3d max connection extension? Thats got to be the best way for bring SKP's into Max IMO..

Like you do in Photoshop when importing 3d models? Is that what you mean by painting?
Yeah i think so, i havent used CS5 yet.. I was thinking more like zbrush esp for blending 2 textures

support for high poly models, even just better navigation.

better texturing tools, projection is very limited (yeah i know thomthom plugins work but we need more, I'd love to 'paint' textures onto surfaces)
These two points are my greatest desires also... texture layering and editing through a paint tool within Sketchup would be tremendous... Proper supported UV unwrapping would be enough however...

RE: Chateau-Vaux-le-vicomte 3d model integrated into photograph
im sorry but if your main objective is complete realism, the low res-textures make this exercise pointless. The lighting is blending nicely but photo-real it aint. Great PP sepo!

RE: ICU Rooftop Garden and Patient Room- Twilight Render
These are very nice well done... how did you do your people? 3d, billboard or in PP?

RE: European House rendered in Shaderlight
I agree the lighting is spot on with the backplate in all but its direction. I guess what I was getting at is i was looking at it as a work of art and not a technical exercise in HDRI. The overcast grey hues don't make the building pop out my screen. As a test tho its ok!

RE: European House rendered in Shaderlight
A few pointers:
- lighting is very flat, adjusting the curves in photoshop can help
- i dont know if this is a shaderlight thing but its looking a little grainy.
- mixture of billboard plants and photo montage looks odd, i suggest one or the other.
- the grey walls could do with some bump if its an exterior render.
- take care with your light sources on the photoshoped vegetation, the lighting on the plants near the camera doesnt match the lighting at the back..and none of it matches the lighting on your model.
- don't crop the top of the roof off, its bad for the composition.
Keep going tho its got potential!

RE: Exterior Hillside House
Thanks for the comments guys the frosted glass could have been better I agree and i've altered the scale of the grass as mentioned.
The grass is done in PS overlayed over a heavily bumped grass texture to give me reference for the way the light falls. The vignette effect is done using the colour balance in PS, it could be done with a colour burn layer but I do it this way because it gives me way more control.
I've attached the night version and a little process image...enjoyCheers

Art Deco Light Pendant
Hi guys, currently producing a visual for the interior redesign of an old library. In the scheme there are these art deco light pendants that are a key existing feature the client wants preserved. I can't post the images currently as im awaiting sign off but here is a render of the pendant model thats part of my scene. Rendered in Vray

RE: Ski lodge (WIP)
hmm i like it ... i agree strange image, more hyper-real than photoreal..your wood might be a tad too yellow but thats just my taste. Add some snow on the roof!
