I've had some luck using Shapebender for this. It won't handle superelevation, but theoretically will handle a single cross-section. One problem with this method that I've not been able to solve is how to handle intersecting cross-streets.

Vali Architect's Instant Road maybe starts to do more of what you desire (although I think it uses a terrain surface, not a centerline profile to generate the elevations).

Shapebender did exactly what i want to create a cheap and nasty road alignment suitable for driveways/subdivisions.

      Cheers!

Although I've found a few road plugins that seem to make nice looking roads, they do no seem to really allow a "proper" road geometric design to be created within sketchup.

I think that is would be cool to lay out a centreline (straight or curved)- with a report on the length. Create a straight line representing the long section (gradients and rollovers or vertical curves). Extrude a standard cross ection along the centreline using the longsection for the height of the final extrusion. It would be nice to input width, superelevation and cut/fill slopes instead of using a standard section, buyt hey, baby steps.

Has anyone come across something like this or have workflow that'll do this?

      Cheers,

      Vik

    • RE: [Tutorial] Create a (TIN) from Surveyed Pts - using SU only

How do I get a spreadsheet or comma separated x,y,z points into SU without having to actually position points manually? Is there a way to automate this?

      Cheers
