One of these days, when I get caught up in the shop, I'm gonna build a workbench from scratch. Right now I'm using a store bought that I've made some alterations to, replaced the cheapo front vise with a leg vise, added a thick front skirt with dog holes for my hold fasts, added a planing stop on the end.

I think the biggest mistake a lot of folks make is over-accessorizing a bench. They want to include every gadget they see out there. A simple, but versatile bench that works the way you work. Before CS's book, I looked all over trying to find a central repository for work holding methods, but found almost nothing. Going through old magazines, I found some stuff, but it was usually bits and pieces. I added a page to my web site some time back and posted some of the methods I use, and solicited stuff from other folks. If you're interested, here is link to the page.http://www.sawdustersplace.com/Workholding/Workholding.htm

i have to agree 100%... they are made to take a hiding not a picture lol

i cannot see from the model which looks very flash... whether you have sufficient cross bracing/structural strength for it to take a good pounding as it will no doubt?

thanks gaius, yes i only just joined this forum. i am presently trying patiently to learn the program and have found this very useful. the reason i wish to print is that i intend to use this program to map out templates for my furniture making. at present i am making a hall table that requires shaping similar to a queen ann but slightly modified.

      again i appreciate your help

thanks gaius it worked.. bought a new printer for wife too lol. one other question when printing how do you make it just print the part you want and not the whole screen?? can you turn off background colours as well to minimise ink usage?

      really appreciated

    • Printing to scale

hi everyone... i have a silly question which is no doubt a repeat but i have looked.
i have created a template to use on my woodworking. the problem exists when i try to print. it wont let me select a 1 to 1 scale in print. i am using xp pro and a hp 952c printer. any suggestions as to what obvious trick i have missed would be greatly appreciated.

      cheers
