Thanks for the nice compliment!
I really appreciate it!

So this is the one I think I am entering.
The illustrations are intended for the children's book market and I think this fits into that category.
My wife likes this one because the dog looks like our Emma who just went through a bout of old dog vestibular disease. She is better but it was a scary thing.
Thanks for looking!
S
Thanks! I have never entered an illustration contest before and I thought a simple style would work.
Thanks for taking a look!

Thanks! That is the image my wife likes, it reminds her of our dog Emma.
I made another version quickly to try other colors. Gotta love 3D and rendering software.
This one has Maggie turning her head slightly and red shoes.
Maybe too much red?
Thanks again!

So scbwi.org has a monthly illustration contest for members. The illustrations are based on one word. For example last month was "dance."
Here are the entires for last month.
http://drawthisdance.blogspot.com/
This month the word is "Lucky." So I did two quick concepts but I can only enter one.
Which one or start over....?
Thanks!

I know this is a really old thread but I was wondering if Solo or another sketchup guru has any videos on organic modeling of animals or cartoon characters...
Most of the pictures are gone from this thread and I would like to learn how best to start an object...
Specifically, I want to model a whale!
Thanks!
Stuart
Edit: I think I get how to do it. I bought vertex tools (amazing) and using artisan, I just have to push pull and PRACTICE!
Quick whale test, long ways to go...

Hi, I have a most of the book done.
What I need is feedback. does it make sense. does it suck, etc
Here is the link to the full concept book.
Best viewed full screen. meant for an ipad or computer
I just put the book on my website.
Please give a review! Good or bad.
Stuart
Wow, what a great whale video! Now I feel a little inadequate....
Thanks!

Hello!
I just added part two of my ebook "The Curse of the Golden Bridge" to my website.
The ebooks are free and hopefully a mix of fun and bridge engineering.
Thanks, now off to work on the finale!
Stuart
Happy New Year! I have started on part two of my latest "book" and will post it when I can.
I would appreciate any feedback if you have shown the books to a kid. Did they like it or hate it? Too little bridge stuff or too much?
I have started playing around with a giant squid, here is a first look. (I know it should have more legs but they are a pain to manipulate, plus its a robot.)
Thanks!
Stuart
Thanks Bryan! Trying to make the books is fun but trying to find readers is a challenge!
Thanks again for taking a look!
Stuart
Sorry to keep annoying everybody but I started a new ebook called "The Curse of the Golden Bridge". I tried to make it in the style of of an old adventure movie.
The bridge used in the book is one I actually designed. A three span steel haunched girder. (enhanced for the book of course.)
Get a free pdf download of part one at http://www.bridgerobots.com (and other books)

I haven't finished part two or three...
I would appreciate any feedback you have, I'm new at the kids ebook field and I'm not exactly sure what I am doing. All images, so far, are made with Kerkythea..
Thanks!
Stuart
Good idea on the KT book majid. I use KT on most of my book images because it gives a nice soft light to images.
I also love that I can take it anywhere on my flash drive. (and its free!)
Stuart
Hello, I have started on my next book and I thought I would post the opening pages. (since I don't make any money on these things...hopefully someday.)
The current books are here for free download.
The new book with a working title of "The Curse of the Golden bridge" is located here.
Large file
http://www.bridgerobots.com/books/Book%20four%20files.pdf
The books online are pdf files and the best way to view them is full screen or ideally on an ipad. (The books are made for ipads.)
If you like them buy a book from amazon (links on website) and that will pay for a coffee for me. (Yay!)
Let me know what you think!
Stuart
Thanks! I don't think I'm close to your level of Art/sketchup but I'm trying!
(I'm always amazed how you get so much detail in your work with so few triangles.)
Thanks again!
Stuart
Thanks again Mike, for the nice comments! I hope your grandson likes it.
I sometimes start with sketchup and kerkythea to get the models right and then photoshop some mood on them.
Others like the golden bridge use a bridge I designed (not gold!) and I try to improve it...
Thanks!
s
Wow! Thank you so much!
I'm working on the next book and trying to improve the stories and the adventures.
Thanks again, I really appreciate it!
Stuart
Hello, I have made a website for my free robot ebooks called
Let me know what you think of the books and the site.
Thanks!
Stuart
Hello, I have decided to make my third book available for free.
If you take a look, can you tell me what you think about them? I'm trying to figure out if I should do more of them....
