Stinkie, I can see why you may be a bit sensitive on this issue...and I can understand why you wouldnt like to see your own gallery post [is it your first?] sink into obscurity
Ok the 'My Forum' thing was obviously a statement of feeling rather than an actual belief or wish on my part. [The nuances of the English language can be devilish at times!]
Yes the forum is developing into a broad church and I think its maybe time some policy decisions were made re its direction...Is it just going to be 'All about SketchUp'......anything goes as long as there is no swearing, flaming or advertising by prospective Russian Brides?
I would like to think that 'the pursuit or excellence' comes somewhere into the calculation.
If this was the case I dont feel that blatent serial posters would be tolerated for too long.
And.... 'put up or shut up'? Well I post here in the gallery now and then.....my guess is that nobody posted more stuff than me in the old @Last gallery and there was a time when it seemed that half the mastheads on the @Last website pages were from my images...so mate, I have some form.
And the sad part, you know, is that the most vocal people here are often the least talented.

johnsenior1973, you might note I was speaking metaphorically and commenting more about people's attitude to gross overbumping than this guys individual posts.
Im sure greentoaster is a nice guy but I think somebody should have tapped him on the shoulder, about 35 pages ago, and said 'enough is enough' -
RE: POLL: SCF Gallery- is bumping OK?
Sorry,I dont agree with...'Well!..If you dont like it you dont have to look at it!!...Hmmp!..Sniff!!...So There!!!'
This used to be MY forum!...and I used to CARE about it!!
If a stray dog [speaking metaphorically] comes into my house and craps on my prize carpet am I going to...not look?.....hold my nose and not step in it?....and pretend its not there?
And seeing that particular thread has been mentioned [and there has never been a thread with a more prophetic name ], how can anybody justify spending forty four [44] frigging pages on variations of an interesting but limited theme that probably could have been covered adequately in 5 or maybe 10 posts? -

I haven't noticed any bumping abuse so I say it's OK. I have bumped only once and it wasn't my thread.
OK Ron, once is all right

RE: POLL: SCF Gallery- is bumping OK?
Jackson, I agree with you. We all know which absurdly long, mediocre and self indulgent thread you are refering to. I occasionally have a look at it to confirm my disbelief that its still going....like Ground Dog Day.
At the very best it's poor forum etiquette and I wish somebody would start cracking heads but I suspect that's not 'democratic'.
Its this sort of of rubbish, along with the trend to use the forum as a cross between a rambling diary and a place for 'hey look at me!!...I mightnt have any talent... and I dont really have much to contribute...but I have lots of spare time...and I dont pay for the bandwith, hehe' threads that is making the Ruby forum my most often visited and interesting page these days. -
RE: Condo's
Pete, Its nice, but I dont quite get it.
An unkind discription of it would be some sketchy houses dropped into a forest somewhere.....[but I wouldnt say that ]
I know the small plan view gives some indication of the layout but why not make this more obvious in the render?
Or was the brief to make the development look like it was having minimal impact on the environment? -
RE: Vue 6 Patio renders with actual project photos
Hi Adam,
Looking good! The clients must have been happy, they got pretty much what they were shown!
And BTW thats very nice stone work! -
RE: House n Garden
Adam, the Box Hedge is just smoothed, simple geometry with a small leafed texture which I bump fairly heavily in Podium.
And just a further note re. the Tiffs....the Podium guys are talking about PNGs only, but Im finding the Tiffs are working OK....remembering that each image can be 3-5Mb....the model of the first image rounded off at about 88Mb before it starting popping , but I have had some bugsplats pretty early with other models.

RE: House n Garden
Thanks Adam,
I think your stuff is great too!
You must try Podium 1.6!...I'm guessing that you running at least dual core, so you should see a distinct rendering time difference and the PNG, Tiff import without clips should interest you as well.

House n Garden
SU n Podium
Ed. Ok its official now...Podium 1.6 beta is out. The first image was done using this. It has multi core support...this image [output at 1800x pixels approx.] was done with a quad core processor in under three minutes!

RE: Mural study...
Nice modeling Tom....but if some architect sold me this idea I think I would be coming after him with an axe within six months...

RE: Wireless mouse and keyboard for Mac?
My advice would be not to look any further than Logitech Mx or Vx Revolution for the mice. I use an MX with my desktop.....has its own charger, so you never have to replace batteries and it is pleasure to use... with lots of buttons for whatever functions.
The VX I use with my Laptop and is very good as well...and if you want small, this might be the one to go for. -

So, I'm sitting here drinking my first espresso and it occurs to me that God must use some kind of theological 'SketchUp-like' modelling program for all this creating he does. Hey, six days is a pretty tight deadline, (there are guys on this forum who have been struggling with a bathroom for weeks). Then, there's Adam and Eve, unless he just downloaded them from some devine version of 'Poser', a snake, dinosaurs, a really big garden...
Whew...I wonder what they talk about on that forum?Probably something like this:
'Well, first up, welcome to the forum, god.
Not a bad effort for a newbie but as your probably aware by now, creating a universe isnt as easy as it looks! For one thing, I dont thinks you have the light and darkness balance right, but some of the renders are very nice indeed and show lots of promise!!
So keep up the good work and were looking forward to seeing something a bit better thought out in the future!!' -
RE: What sport do they play...?
Well Tom, you have the coach, the cheerleader....but where's the team?
