Thanks, the bufferwheel is a texture and I also added some geometry for the folds. I gave the wheel 85% opacity so that the bump texture on the second side (other face) will show through and give more complexity.

Thanks for model, I doubt I will ever need one of these, infact I have never seen one of them before.
I took the liberty to render your model with Podium.
render time: 2 mins 33 seconds, even with reflection of differing value on every face.

Poser 1-4 have low poly options that look like FF characters when imported, poser 5 and 6 have higher poly figures great for foreground placement. Poser 7 has way too many bugs to even bother with, install is too big and it takes ages to load, and it lags bad.
so in answering...it depends where you want the figure fore or backround.
A useful tip: if import is clothed then remove anatomy that is not visible, including tongue, teeth etc, as that reduces the size considerably.

Keeping textures on import is a hit and miss thing, In the Podium tips and tutorials, under modelling tips I have a few tips on how to import .3ds keeping the faces intact. Texture imports are more involved and require some strange manoeuvers that do not always work. I have never had success with Poser imported textures unless I import into Vue then export .3ds (however they normally are way too heavy for use in SU) I usually open model in Max and strip the textures, import into SU and reapply them (long way)
Yes those are Poser imports, and the wooden figures are mannaquins.
Have not been here in a while, so I decided to post some newish Podium renders of mine.

Thanks for your comments.
Long time no see, Come by the Podium site sometime and drop a few Biebel renders, after all you are still the render master and a few of the newbies need to see how it's done.
Thanks y'all
Shaun, I sourced my ideas from pictures and trailer screen captures of the upcoming Transformer movie, they took about a day (4hours) to complete. I always wanted to be a cartoonist but ended up listening to the folks and ended up an Arhitect (probably for the best) It was actually Monsterzero that inspired me to try my hand at it again, as I got a link to his site a month or so ago and even signed his guestbook, with awe I might add.
I realy do enjoy doing these but they do take much time to build, time unfortunately not an asset I have an abundance of. below is a shot of a bot during SU build.
