Looks fantastic, I am not a fan of the ultra wide angle on this one, but the render looks superb.

RE: Been away (from here) for tooooo long
Paul,
Good to see you come back - I came back earlier this week, and our stories sound as similar as they could, with me living in Canada, and you in UK. My wife wasn't getting an MBE, she was just creating life!I looked over some more images of your church model upon my return and it blew my mind once again, exhaled and felt at home. Glad you are back too.

RE: Has it been, so long?? or so long (ya big jerk)?
too funny Carvaggio, too funny. Promise me one thing, that you'll lay off that sweet Kansas Peyote!

RE: Has it been, so long?? or so long (ya big jerk)?
Mateo, I really like your quote. True, too true.
Guite,
Yeah, we did move when my wife was pregnant, but I did it all, and it really wasn't too bad. I find it very easy to keep a good attitude when you know what rewards are waiting..Chuck - man, that's a wordy reply.. I've gotta hit you back on that tip:
You are right, I figured it would be done in a month and a half, add on another 45% on top, and that would be about right... well, I didn't count on the asbestos that had to be removed, and that set me back a few weeks, and then I figured - how long can it possibly take to finish the basement too? etc...
your comment of bravery reminds me though of when I was purchasing my baseboards. I had to find a decent solution, because the walls/floor gap in places (with the hardwood) was up to 1" - mostly baseboards come to 5/8" or 3/4" and that would leave me with gaps of floor - so I chose Pediment - 1 1/4" wide!!! When I was purchasing my 400' of the stuff, the guy looks at me and says "you are a real hero. A champion among men", I had to tell him I wasn't using it for the top of windows, like you are supposed to - but for baseboards..!I like your idea about the sweetspot and giving extremes as choices for the client - I won't be giving up - but I may change my strategy, and I appreciate your comments. - I'm looking forward to seeing some of your new work - like this new animation!
And Ross, I almost forgot - your comments about my photography are too kind, I will look around and find some photos to post that I think to be interesting and different, truthfully, I'm much more inspired by the art of many who have posted on this and the other forums. Not just the final images, but the model, animation, idea, talent in woodwork, programming - really, it's all so inspiring, and I am very happy to be back in this community.

RE: ..just a TV..
Jason,
This is fantastic. I love the fake wood look that you achieved, and the glow/reflection that you have is just about right.Love it - I had one of these when I was gr 4 -7 in my room. Channel knob was broken, so pliers had to be employed to change the channel, the volume was busted, so I used an old microphone as a minispeaker (to keep the volume lower) and Christmas lights were connected to the antenna - totally ghetto!

RE: Has it been, so long?? or so long (ya big jerk)?
Thanks all for the warm re-welcome and all the congrats.
I spent some time yesterday setting up my desk and office a bit last night, I'm getting a little antsy to continue where I left off. Speaking of which - Jackson, no I haven't used Vue for a long time... but then I haven't used any 3D programs for a long time - I suspect that I will likely still be using VUE, but then I don't know how much things have changed in 3D while I've been away. I can tell you this though, I got a PS3 just before Christmas, and seeing what is being rendered real time on games like Uncharted Grand Turismo and Call Of Duty honestly makes me want to quit. Or at least stop trying for realism - it would take me hours even with the properly set up scene to come up with some of that magic - and it's rendered real time..Nick, these are just for you:
%(#004040)[I guess I kinda lost control, because in the middle of the play I ran up and lit the evil puppet villain on fire. No, I didn't. Just kidding. I just said that to help illustrate one of the human emotions, which is freaking out. Another emotion is greed, as when you kill someone for money, or something like that. Another emotion is generosity, as when you pay someone double what he paid for his stupid puppet.
A man doesn't automatically get my respect. He has to get down in the dirt and beg for it.
It's funny that pirates were always going around searching for treasure, and they never realized that the real treasure was the fond memories they were creating.

I will post a couple of thumbnails I have here of our little girl!
She's such a little darling, and already gained a pound in 2 weeks - takes after her dad - likes to eat!

RE: Animated avatar
You think that's creepy, but I've know Ivica for a long time...that's what he really looks like. Jack's got one of those tribal looking red tattoos on his face and shakes from motorbike adreneline and coffee!!!
(Seriously Ivica, I love the Avatar - it's great, and scarier than mine!! ) -
RE: Just a much needed vent...
Tom, I'm getting tired of saying "wow" when I see some of this stuff, so I looked up "Incredible" in the thesuarus Here are a couple of words about your slide: astonishing, astounding, awe-inspiring, extraordinary, fab, fabulous, fantasmo, far-out, glorious, great, prodigious, superhuman*, unreal*, wonderful
Perhaps a couple of those don't fit - but man, I think this is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for sharing! - let us know if you get to use it or not!!
Ross - you should post your slide from the recent project here too.. this is a really neat application of SU's owers (and the problem-solving skills of the equipment manager (you-the modeller) -
RE: SU Artist seeks modelling job...
Dear Ross MacIntosh,
Thank you for meeting with my team and search committee regaridn your qualifications for the modelling positionWe were fortunate to have several qualified candidates for this position. We oogled each of the top candidates and after careful consideration, we have determined that the "credentials" of another candidate are a better fit to the needs of this department.
Please accept our best wishes and thank you for your interest in our company.
Cordially,
Shaun...PS we gave the job to kannonball - look at those arms..

Has it been, so long?? or so long (ya big jerk)?
Gentle ladies and Gentle men,
Greetings again. I have been away for quite some time, and I think I owe you all an explanation. Let me back up first to just say: I don't know how "back" I am, but I clicked through to the old Sketucation forums for the first time in a long time (maybe since November?) today and found that we are at a new forum. I have registered and hope to contribute some valuable information or help, or perhaps content - but it seems that my hopes are replaced on these design forums by many corner bar posts. They come in one of the following forms: stupid humor, encouragement, discussion on religion or philosophy and more stupid humor. We'll see what this fresh start does for my "content"
I would like to thank all the friends that I have met here: Ross, Alan, Coen, Chuck, Tom, Andrija, Ivica, Fletch, Jackson and many many more that I can't remember at the moment, and wouldn't want to leave out.. I suspect my list would be at least 100 names long if I had the time. (of course Coen for bringing the "original" place )
I want to apologize for dropping off the earth (except to Ross, who thinks I'm too apologetic, I say stick it, my man, stick it)Hmm. Well, there we go..that's out of the way.
In the summer my wife and I sold our condo, and bought a house, this meant that I had to close up shop for a while before, so that our condo could sell (looks nicer to buyers when a condo doesn't have such a huge "command centre" 15 computers etc.) When we bought the place, it needed a lot of work too, and I foolishly thought 2 months would do it. To further complicate things, the renters of the house didn't move out when they were supposed to and took an additional month and a half to leave, all things considered, we moved in right before Christmas. I have now put in about 700 hours worth of work, and have more to do. The computers/office are not set up yet either, as Christmas came to a standstill, and then.. the most AWESOME event... my wife and I had our first baby!! Dec 27. Add a horrendous cold to the mix in January, and I'm just now starting to see the light of day... I expect to be up and running in February, and perhaps back into the content and new projects.
I'm looking forward to finding out about quite a bit while I was gone, and re-connecting with all y'all too, but still I won't have tonnes of time to do this,
Planning to slip in like an assassin,
Shaun -
RE: Happy Birthday to you...
Alan, Happy Big one! - I didn't realise today was yours too, I shouldn't forget that! you have certainly left your mark on the world and those around you. You are a great and positive influence to many you know and likely many you don't. I hope you have a great evening and meaningful celebration with your chaps.
- Ross - give a hearty happy birthday to your son too - congratulate him on what a good day he picked to come into the world. - I have a bulgar salad recipe I've been meaning to dig up for you, maybe you could celebrate with that!
thanks guys!

RE: Need help big time!
James,
you could also check on the giveaway of the day site, under the day that prog came up to see what the discussion is. I always read through them first, just incase. If someone else had your issue, then they might have also found how to deal with it without you having to further research it. I have seen this type of response before.(If anyone knows who got to Coen and my Avatar, please call crimestoppers at 1-800-555-5555 12.50$ reward for information leading to the capture of the perps)

RE: Member Profiles
Well, these avatars are fun, I have been getting comments like - is that really you, you look mean, or a-tit-tude, and one person called me "mr. cooly-cool" That's why I piratised my Avatar. I've changed it here again because I evidently have nothing else to contribute at the moment, I grew a "Ross MacIntosh" at Christmas this year, and had some fun when I shaved er off.. this one is my Yosemite Sam look.. I'll post a picture of me looking nice, and respectful in a couple days.

Craig - it's like some mixture of Billy Madison and Billy Blanks has taken over your posting.. you're starting to scare me.. Edmonton, Alberta... no uh.. I don't live there... uh say .. Edmonton Kentucky... yeah that's it.. If you are looking to beat me up that's where I live!

RE: Member Profiles
Edson
I'm all for more info. It makes things a little more friendly, and I think that having a face on an avatar might lead to less confrontation/misunderstanding. You can tell quite a bit from a photo - age, possibly generic idea about culture, sex (Kim Frederick comes to mind! how many thought he might be a she?) etc..
different topic:
I want Tom to tell me what his Cat's name is, but... I guess I just have to keep calling that cat Allan. Allan the Kansas cowboy cat. Good night Allan. Who's a good little hairy Allan?poster-Shaun Tennant
