Sketchyphysics vehicles rendered with Twilight (UPDATE)
Hi. Would like to share with you my recent Sketchyphysics creation rendered using Twilight.
Its a german assault gun from ww2 - Stug3 Ausf.A
Still having problems with Twilight camera and will have to rerender the animation adding some 3d trees to the scene.

The other one is a model of a Mitsubishi Pajero. The model isn't mine, took it from the 3d warehouse, don't remember who made it. I just rigged it and rendered this little animation:

RE: Recent Renders...
Amazing. Is this Vray for sketchup or max? Is thre a displacement map on the carpet on the first image or some other trick?

RE: New TwilightRender can render Sketchyphysics animations.
Thanks for the comments. The animation has about 400 frames, resolution was 500x256 and it took about 4-5 hrs on the lowest setting. my system is core2duo 2ghz, 3gb ram

New TwilightRender can render Sketchyphysics animations.
Hi all. If some of you don't know yet there is a new rendering engine called TwilightRender. It's very cheap, works inside sketchup, very easy to learn and the most important thing: IT CAN RENDER SKETCHYPHYSICS ANIMATION with great results. Heres my little example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3Lp-fAg0oM . There is one thing that you may be dissapointed with: it doesn't allow to touch any controller in SP while rendering, but if you frame program your motors and servos it will do fine.

RE: Acceleration script (working)
Very good! But please tell me how did you achieve such a good grip??

RE: Tank Museum UPDATE - new renders
Some renders from last months. Still learning Kerkythea and texturing.
Challenger II late sunset render.
King Tiger.
King tiger textured (metropolis light transport, not more than 6 passes)
King Tiger - photon map
KV-1
T-34 scene WIP. this is a scene with 2 t34 tanks. the tanks are low poly SKETCHYPHYSICS tanks i've done some time ago. I got them to ride over some bricks and then i started modeling the destroyed buildings.
Panther tank
Panzer 4

Would love to see stronger joins in the next release.

why bother with gmail chat and msn? just keep on using this thread.

RE: Tank Museum UPDATE - new renders
I've been trying to render some of these tanks. I'm using Kerkythea and still have a lot to learn. Have a look at some renders of KV-1 in a warehouse i've made. I'm still not happy about the light and shadows. Also the warehouse needs some dirtied textures, the current ones are from sketchup.
Any tips on kerkythea settings? -

[attachment=0:17u1qora]<!-- ia0 -->JAGDPAN.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:17u1qora]I did these renders a while back, I got the SKP model from the warehouse, did you make this or was it someone else?
It's a Jagdpanther and it's not mine.

Script question
Hi. I've made a model that uses pistons controled with frame timed scripts. Is there a way that the sequence could be initiated with the press of a button and do not repeat untill the button is pressed again, instead of just going all the time, over and over again?
something like: if(press the buttn)than(do tehe sequence)
There's alink to this model http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=cd90a0017123bf487a6a01149be78798 its a autoloader for tank gun. What i want to achieve is to have the system reloading the cannon after pressing fire (firing the cannon)
Thanks
By the way, check the video of my latest sketchyphysics 3 tank: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwXMBCPW-W4 -
RE: Tank Museum UPDATE - new renders
Well. The only surfaces that are hard to make without any plugin would be the shapes of the cast turrets (t-34, t-62, sherman). Those are kinda organic shapes that cannot be done with the follow me tool and this is why they're either low poly or non accurate. Everything else is quite easy to achieve. It's mostly straight lines and "follow me".
I'm not working in design studio or anything like that so my computer at work is a simple, dated office pc - P4, integrated video card, 480mb RAM. So you can see that i must have some patience. At home it's not much better. Still pentium4, 2gb ram and a proper graphic card. But i'm ok with that as long as i hide the layers i'm not working on.

RE: Tank Museum UPDATE - new renders
texture size ranged from 1200 pixels wide to 2400 pixels wide. the model without textures with copied components weights 7mb. with the textures and many of the components exploded its 26 mb.

RE: Tank Museum UPDATE - new renders
Hello again. Thanks for the kind words. The texture for king tiger i painted in photoshop. I used the right RAL colours that has been used on these panzers from 1944. Paintbrushed green and red/brown patches over the dark yellow base. Then added some darkening where needed and lots of dirt using some dirt brushes found on deviantart. i made texture for left side, right side, top of the hull, top of the turret, rear of the tank, front of it, bottom hull sides, bottom of the tank and the gun barrel. These textures were projected on to apropriate parts of the tank. the most dificult part was to match the top texture to the side texture. I'm gonna make these proper renders soon but for now you can see some SU renders

RE: Tank Museum UPDATE - new renders
The King Tiger is now textured completely. I will post some renders later. For the moment have a look at partially finished model rendered in kerkythea. The bump map needs a lot of tweaking cos it looks crappy.

RE: Tank Museum UPDATE - new renders
The texturing of King Tiger has started. Here's a sneak preview of what its going to be.

RE: Tank Museum UPDATE - new renders
Hi All. The King Tiger is nearly finished. I'm posting a quick render from kerkythea. i'll be trying to put some textures on it later.
the render came out too bright and the reflection shouldn't really be there but i've no patience to run it again.
