use the shift key, early and often.

08-Feb-2010 edit: avoid using mouse to select "hide" from context-click menu. every once in a while the mouse will mistakenly click "erase", and the result will appear the same as if mouse had clicked "hide". Unfortunately, much later (even later after a few unhide-all's) you will wonder to where some parts have disappeared.

    • RE: A Welcome Message to New SketchUcation Members

      hello,
am interested in parametric, bim, data, 3d modeling aspects (though aware of su's "fake" curves).
revit arch's massing and site tools are clumsy and erratic.
      autocad is... autocad. 👿
so, i guess i'm always looking for something that works better.
and am often working with sites (contours, grading)

      enough for now.

    • RE: Install LtPlus plugin alters uninstall.dat, uninstall.exe an

i think the plugin menu had not yet existed before install ltplus. seems rb writer can choose location of script commands (per google help)
also system restore removed uninstall.exe, but i now think sketchup installer never creates an uninstall.exe (because su uses msi?)

to investigate further, i think i'll uninstall then reinstall su, observing file changes in app folde4rs
install some extra plugins. install ltplus. i expect the earlier plugins will still show after ltplus install.
IOW, i suspect that ltplus only "looks funny", but is likely OK.

    • Install LtPlus plugin alters uninstall.dat, uninstall.exe an

After the install dialog "finished", a temp\sketchup...exe controlled regular SketchUp.exe, which started up. Su looked normal, but I noticed the only plugin in su's Plugins menu is LtPlus (and it has a few submenus).
also windows desktop shortcut for "LTplus sketchUP PlugIN V.9.1" is same shortcut as prexisting regular SketchUp.exe shortcut.
SketchUp.exe has same filedate as many of the dll's. Properties says it is version 7.1.4871.0

This seems odd to me. And i don't know which other plugins have been hidden.
I'll probably fix this by using System restore.

I couldn't find much info about ltplus via google.
      English version: http://www.icad2000.de/LTplus_SketchUP_EN.zip
      http://www.icad2000.de/en_download.htm
It says that ltplus plugin exports to DXF/3DS/VRML/STL.

      (using su7.1 free on winxp)

Interesting notes about Intellicad based "cads", though these aren't su-related
Toolbars and/or Menus are destroyed, because the IntelliCAD-Version is not
AutoCAD-MNU/DCL-Compatible, uses absolute paths, or can't scale icons
Standard AutoCAD- or IntelliCAD-Dialogues, or Commands are missing
Complex Lisp-Routines don't work, because the IntelliCAD-Version uses an
encrypting Lisp-Interpreter, where Standard-Lisp-Functions are missing
