We have been using Sketchup 6 pro for some time.
And over that time we have has numerous users report Sketchup locking up.
Upon further investigation, Sketchup is just cranking along and not bothering to update the screen. The user see's a black window while taskmanager shows Sketchup bouncing around 50% CPU utilization. (on a dual core system)
I've found that simply spinning a model in the view port maxes the CPU.
The big difference is if you move it a little the CPU spike is short.
If you move it alot the CPU spike is longer. (hey it's got more math to do)
The "black outs" usualy occur with the big viewport changes.
I guess I want to know why...
We have Dell Precision M90 workstations. Dual 2.4ghz, 4gig ram, nVidia FX 2500M video.
Hardware acceleration is on.
we've turned down detail. (on trees etc.)
and we see this issue even on some small drawings.
We have all the Shadow/Sun/etc options disabled.
the OpenGL info is:
use hardware
use Fast Feedback
nVidia Quadro FX 2500M/PCI/SSE2
GL version: 2.1.1
GLU version: 1.2.2.0 Microsoft Corp.
using 0x anti-aliasing
Are we doing something wrong?!
ps. I'm an IT guy not a 3d guy so please keep in mind I'm not that fluent in Sketchup's interface.
Thank you,
