    • RE: Newbie - model in photo is translucent?

      Dave,

Thanks for the info, looked everywhere but didn't touch the edit tab in Styles. Managed to make the model opaque even though the colour of the model rendering doesn't seem to apply over the photo.

Nevertheless, it much more presentable and effective as an illustration.

      Cheers,

      Paul

    • Newbie - model in photo is translucent?

I've created a model and placed it into a photo for a proposed development and where the model lies over the photo, it is a clear, line diagram whereas, the area of the model outside the photo is rendered as per my sketchup file.

I'm trying to find the setting that allows me to plant the building on the block without trying to render from the photo? This is a new building replacing an old bomb....

      Cheers

      Paul.

    • Newbie trying to understand shadowing and camera view

      Dear All,

Just wondering if you could assist me. I just downloaded sketchup to draw up a proposed development backing onto my house where I believe the architect has screwed up the shadowing diagram submitted for the existing structure relative to the new building. The development will have a huge impact and I want to send some 3d drawing to illustrate the impact on us and my neighbours.

I have drawn up the proposal and the rear elevation of our houses and geo-located. When I look at the shadowing it indeed is different to the architecturals sent to council, but on closer inspection of my drawing, I notice that the shadows are only showing up against the X-Y plane, not the -Z plane where the ground falls away.

This falling contour is also reflected in the google earth terrain and I have placed buildings along this falling contour as per the surveyor's information.

Can someone illuminate me as to why this is the case, it almost seems as though I need to draw all the buildings on a flat plane and google adjust the shadow to suit the contours?

      Cheers, Paul
