    • Counting and exporting component quantities in a drawing

      Hi,

Just wondered if anyone can help with this.

I am looking at a way that I can create a list of quantity of components within a model (either from Sketch up or layout). It would be beneficial if I could export this somehow as a table list or excel spreadsheet. The drawings are made up only of components (just lots of them).

      Any help appreciated.

      Many thanks

    • RE: Material editor in sketchup 2015 using a mac

Many thanks for the help on this - it helped a great deal.

I did find editing the colours would not allow me to rename them - the only way I could achieve this was to duplicate the colour and give it a new name and then delete the old colour from the list.

Let's hope trimble make the mac editor more like the pc version in later editions.

    • Material editor in sketchup 2015 using a mac

      Hi - Can anyone help?

I am using a mac and the material editor is somewhat different to a pc (and looks somewhat less functional) so mac helpers please:

I want to create new lists that I can add basic colours, with these colours I can then add further material attributes using the Thea render plugin. Each colour I want to give a new name and be able to save this list so I can add my own custom materials to my models (which have the Thea render attributes in them).... however:

      1. I cannot see any way of adding a basic colour - it allows me to add a material but then opens up a finder window on my mac (what am I meant to be adding here).

      2. No way of simply copying and renaming materials as far as I can see

      3. Also I want to delete the custom blocks at the bottom of the menu (or at least clear them) - is there a way?

      Thanks in advance

    • RE: Collada export files

      Hi Gai,

It just seems random how the collada files open up in iPad ibooks. The axes have not been modified - blue goes up.

Not too sure what you mean about resetting - don't have the option on a mac.

Cheers for your help - like the forum.

    • Collada export files

      Hi there,

I am exporting sketchup models as collada (.dae) files and using these to import into apples recently released ibooks author software (which creates interactive ibooks for the iPad).

The models import easily and work great with the programme (and look stunning when transferred to an iPad) however I have found one problem and that I cannot fine a way of making the model appear (or start) from a specific angle - for example if I import a collada file of an aeroplane into the ibooks author software and transfer it to the iPad, when you open the page on the iPad the aeroplane could be upside down.

I am sure there must be a setting or way that you position a model in sketch up that allows you to determine which way or orientation the model opens.

Any help gratefully appreciated (please note I work on a mac).

      Cheers

      Stuart
