What is your SU version, what windows or mac version ?
It seems that 'DarkRed' (Sketchup color or material) doesn't exist on your computer.
What happens if you make a material 'DarkRed' before opening the RichSection panel?

About zooming : If you click on the titlebar of the Sketchup-window, the main window will have the scope, and zoom-behaviour will be normal.
About updating with one click: Yes my context-menu is buggy. I will work on it. But instant update is still possible if you use the update button on the panel, and then click on the sectionplan or Richsection group.
About non-modal or modal dialog: The idea was to use a non modal dialog to allow the creation of materials, scenes.... to use within the RichSection. If necessary i will switch back to modal, or let you the chose, but first give me last chance to try the non-model way.

Fileutils is used by my plugin, but it is part of the standard library since Sketchup 2014.
Did you reinstall Sketchup ? (Even if you have the latest)

RichSections created with an older plugin version don't need manual update any more (bug in 0.5.0) when changing the sectionplan

Some questions about this super SCF-API

I tested the SCF-api by sending some events. Is the timestamp of each event the local time of the user or the local time of the author?
What can be stored in each value of SCFapi.store_event : special caracters? length? .....
API stats graphs : Is there a way to exclude certain events, actions or labels. We can of course filter them in XLS and make our own graphs.
Is there more documentation for this ? I found the help tab (http://plugins.sketchucation.com/index.php?m=plugins-help%26amp;p=help-summary)
Are there plans to include a licence server in this API? It could be a usefull extension. The SCF-API could pass autorisation to the plugin, based on the unique user-key, time, the plugin version .... The author has to dress a list of the authorized users, in relation to versions, timelimits, .... on the SCF server. Of course commercial plugins would pay for this service!

About documentation:
I planned to make very short 'how-to' videos. In my opinion, that is the best way to explain the basic steps of the workflow. And traduction is almost superfluous.
About Mac:
I got help from the mac community, but it is almost impossible to make regular updates without testing the new code parts in mac and windows. I dont have a mac. Maybee i should buy a cheap (paradox?) or a second-hand mac.
About charging:
I don't have much time outside my every-day job (architect, 98% execution, conception is only an exception), family, etc.
Charging wouldn't give me more free time to spent on ruby & SU.
....
So, be patient
