      Coen,
By 'existing' I meant the building is an existing one, the model is all mine.
There were/are no drawings of the church so everything has been measured by hand/laser, SU's been a boon as I can take a laptop down on site, measure some stuff then go and build it directly, go back measure a bit more etc etc.
The redos (the marble monster at the rear of the altar) was a complete bitch to do, just bending my head around 'how to do it' was giving me a headache. Its about 8m(24') high and bits of it wobble!!!.

I'll look at putting a few of the 100's of photos I took on photobucket or similar.

Shaun hosted an older version of the model, I'm more than happy to upload it again should anyone want it. It's about 30mb

    • RE: 3 Animations on Youtube

Thanks for all the comments guys,

      Walter,
The church is an existing one that we're going to be 'modifying' to make it more user friendly around the altar area. I have an animation of the proposed done but I cant show it yet for obvious reasons.

The exterior was modelled because there is a plan to put a covered link between the church and an adjacent hall.

Both the animations are only demos, they were never intended for public consumption. In fact the interior anim was only done to see IF an animation could be done. I was more than a little surprised to see that it had been rendered at all letalone completed by the next morning. It took only 16hours to render at 2048x1536 @15fps!!

Once the proposal is signed off then a super duper all singing all dancing presentation will be done to 'sell' the scheme to interested parties. As you'd expect with such a scheme its very very slow moving.

If anybody wants info on 'how I dun it' than feel free to ask.

Decided to post a couple of older animations done in 3D studio. They both date from about 2003.
I'm quite impressed with the quality that YouTube delivers, I was half expecting the previous anims to look like poop but no, they came out OK.

This one is a building in Dublin city centre:

This one's a nursing home, here in Belfast:

You can see it in google maps, their just finishing the site landscaping when this shot was taken:

    • 3 Animations on Youtube

Decided to try and put some anims on YouTube.
I haven't a clue as to how well they run but here goes:

Model of a existing site onto which we're going to be putting a nursing home. A lot of the buildings are going to be demolised but the key/good ones are being retained and remodelled.

I just want to say a big thanks for all your hard work and nice comments. Anyone who's worked on a project for an extended period of time will apreciate that familiarity can breed contempt and to be honest that damm church was becomming a big bore to me but.....

You've brought it alive again, each new image you've posted has had me and my colleagues ohh'ing and ahh'ing. Their all fantastic but my favourite has to be the over the roof shot by Kwistenbiebel for 3 reasons 1, It caught me by complete surprise, 2, its a view I've never seen before (Believe me, I've seen them all!!) and 3, its beautiful in its simplicity.

I'm originally an engineer by trade and find myself here, in architecture, through a series of weird job moves in my earlier working life. I don't (as far as I concerned) have an artistic eye so its been fantastic to see what people with 'said eye' can do with what I've made.

If anybody going to collecting flowers around here, its you lot, so here's some that my wife created in Xara as a thank you.

      PS
I'm going to take the model of the church down tomorrow (14-11-2007) as prommised but if you want it, I'll upload the other scheme in this thread in a couple of days, I've only got one more building to finish and I should have that done tommorrow.

Very nice, the new stone is a vast improvement on the existing material.

      Note:
I've edited my previous post and removed the image.

I don't follow any religion, the above visual comment was based on a rather exaggerated stereotypical image of the 2 religions. šŸ˜•

      Fantastic Images guys.

One of my collogues pointed something out whilst looking at the last 2 images and I couldn't resist.......
      .
      Edit:
Removed an image that could have/was misconstrued, I was trying to make a funny regarding the difference between the 2 rendering styles in the images above but seemed to have missed the mark a little.

Woh, that was quick of you, looking good, could you do one of the entrance area, I'm interested as to how that would come out.

Do you want to see the real thing?

Go to http://maps.live.com You'll probably have to be using internet explorer.
Change the search criteria to 'Location' and enter the following address:
"54 north street, lurgan, northern ireland, uk"

Change to 'Birds eye' view and there you go.

A couple of people have PM'd me asking for the model, so for a limited time I'll put it on the su.porta.ca site. Its large so I don't want to use the space for too long.

The interior model of the church 14.7Mb:

      Here's a project I'm currently working on:

Still a lot of stuff to add such as cars, trucks, people, lighting, planting etc. The colours need some work but I normally leave that to the end.

I'm going to try replacing the trees with the fantastic ones that Toms posted.
