    • RE: Exporting sketchup to other 3D programs

      Aadbuild,
So, I am using the a translucent glass material for the windows and the sun light comes through those, but then, I have a couple layers of that same glass material inside of the outside window wall, and the sunlight doesnt show to be going through them when it should.

    • Exporting sketchup to other 3D programs

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. I really like Sketchup and its simplicity and ease in making quick study models. However, it seems that I can't get the material, transparencey and lighting very well. So, I thought if I were to export it to other 3D programs, I would then be able to use it as a model in that program, and manipulate it from there. But, it's been frustrating.

I have exported it into 3D autoCAD, and it doesn't allow me to modify the materials simply. I have had to delete a lot of the model and replace it with 3D autoCAD stuff. Is there a method or procedure in exporting the sketchup model? or does Sketchup already have good material and lighting options that I am not aware of?

I've also tried to manipulate a sketchup model in Revit, but it doesn't allow me to modfiy it. It just comes in as an editable object.
