      PROBLEM SOLVED

      Khai,

Actually I had both KT and SU installed in non-native directories. Since nothing that was suggested worked, I reinstalled KT INTO the default directory, reinstalled the SU plug in (it asked me where the new KT installation was) and I tried rendering once again.

The export process in SU would start and finish without any messages. KT wouldn't start automatically or load the export. BUT when I open KT manually and open the created xml file, the export would load and would render as expected, using all the light sources specified in SU. In contrast, prior to this fix, the manually opened xml files were just blanks.

I suspect the solution was the reinstallation of KT. Not sure if the default directory helped. Either way, thanks to all for helping out!

      Dale,

I tried importing as clay as you suggested, but still no luck. I am going to reinstall KT and see if that does the trick... clearly a software issue. But it may be the user as well... any more feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!

      HD,

I purged the model as you suggested, but still no luck. Same symptoms -- KT loads without the model. Thank you for the idea!

    • Problem Importing from SU to KT using SU2KT

      Hello,

I am having problems exporting my SU models to Kerkythea. Once the SU2KT does its magic and asks me if I want to open the export in the KT, I get the KT splash screen and then an empty KT modeling field. I have been trying to import my complex model and it would never work. Then I tried just a simple cube with a lightsource and it worked the first time I tried it -- model loaded into KT and I was able to render it. After closing that simple model and trying the simple model import again, there was no import, just a KT splash screen followed by a blank KT screen as described above. Trying the complex model a few more times did not open it. Restarting did not help.

I am running Vista, SU Pro 7.1.6860, KT Echo 2008, and SU2KT 3.15. I believe these are all the latest versions. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    • RE: Highlighting Objects in Model

      Thomthom,

Thank you for responding. Your suggestion did not work because there are fittings and other components that are part of the pipe group that are in different colors/materials. So even though some edges would get recolored, this is not the effect I want. I am looking for something that would change the edges of all the items in a component irrespective of the colors of separate items.

If I misunderstood your instructions, can you explain in more detail? Thank you

    • Highlighting Objects in Model

      Hello,

I am making an intricate model of a piping system and I'd like to differentiate a group of objects to show the old system versus the planned additions. Since there are many colors of pipes already I cannot simply differentiate old and new by colors.

I am imagining the edges being drawn in a different color, or have some kind of a highlight function that outlines the edges of the object.

Maybe highlight is not a good word, but that's what I am looking for. I tried searching under many different search terms, but just keep finding basic intro tutorials that use 'highlight' instead of 'select'.

So if you know of the function or a plug in that can do this, please let me know!

      Thank you for the help!

    • RE: How to delete Scenes without the deletion altering my model?

      Chris,

Thank you for a detailed solution and explanation of the way Sketchup perceives scenes. I tried toggling the hidden attributes but the model would keep on reverting to earlier versions.

I was able to solve the problem by Select All > Make Component > Copy of my 'healthy' frame and opening a new file and pasting there. The scenes did not copy into the new file, and starting with a blank Scene list I was able to make the animation.

Thank you for your help, it led me to some realizations about Sketchup!

    • How to delete Scenes without the deletion altering my model?

      Hello,

I've been continually saving a model of a city block to the same file. A few times I've made a video of the model and all the times the videos turned out correct. All I had to do was delete all the scenes and start adding new scenes where I wanted. The model remained the same and videos came out correctly.

For some reason today the model looks exactly as designed on Scene #20, but when I go back and delete other scenes my city block reverts to some other forms of completion -- some buildings and street elements that were deleted remain; the style changes, etc. If I delete any and all scenes except my Scene #20, the Scene 20 also changes to some earlier iteration.

Please advise on how to get rid of the extra scenes without altering my model and allowing me the capability to make a new video. Thank you!
