      OK.. No bro's.

Must just be me. Sorry guys. This kills SU for me

Unwanted lines that cause disappearing surfaces when deleted. As far as I can see the disappearance does not always relate to lines bounding areas. Sometimes it's because a surface I did NOT want was formed mysteriously.

I just know that I tried to do a table top, and eve3ry time I rotated the view I would find surfaces gone, surfaces appearing etc.

I actually find that5 creation of surfaces a nuisance: sometimes you just want lines.....this IS "SKETCH-up"

Colour me old fashioned and maybe I need that "paradigm", but I want to be able to create and delete surfaces as I require, not at the whim of the programme.

    • RE: Stopping Snap

Wow! I am seriously glad you told me that. I have worked with drafting programmes that did that sort of thing, and it can be very frustrating. So thanks for passing on a workaround and saving me (and I hope others) a lot of trouble.

AHAH! So the snap is zoom sensitive? I have seen this before and was wondering but had not had a chance to try it. Basically just sat down. I will give it a go.

thanks very much for the reply.

Dang! That's a nuisance. It snaps to all sorts of weird and distant places 😲 if you are unlucky.

    • Stopping Snap

I am trying to draw some arcs, and the Snap settings are simply getting in the way. How do I turn Snap on or off, and decide what to snap to? Help keeps mentioning an Arrange Menu, or Context menu and i can't find that.

      Any help appreciated.

OK. I will thanks. I have had a go at rotating and I think I am getting the hang of it.

I am not new to PC-based drawing, just the methods of this programme.

    • RE: Puzzled about Moving

OK. Great! I was wondering about quantifying stuff.

Actually I have found that using the fold does not give the result I need (although it may one day). It causes distortion of the shape. I wanted a round cylinder with non perp ends.

So I am looking at slicing...but I may have to have another go and post a question about that, as I got so far than got stuck.

Excellent Jeff! Thanks. I was just getting used to the idea of looking down the bottom for prompts and had missed that.

It's the Alt key in Win.

I found out about not needing to select before pushing aft6er I posted (by accident πŸ˜’ ) but thanks for the heads-up.

    • Puzzled about Moving

I have just started with Sketchup.

My process is as follows. All of this is done in Front View.

      (1) draw a circle
      (2) select by lasso and Push the circle into a cylinder
      (3) draw a rectangle
      (4) Select by lasso and push the rectangle into a box
      (5) move the rectangle/box' front face
      - it successfully moves to the side and starts to show a side face. It creates a distorted box.
      (6) Move the cylinder's front face
      - it appears to move in and out of the Front scene, rather than sideways. It means I cannot create a distorted cylinder.

      Why is the behaviour different?

      Thanks for any assistance.
