      Dave R,

Sadly the link you sent are for Sketchup Pro users, I am using the free version Sketchup Make 2016. With the obj plugin for Make 2016 it does not give us the "OBJ Export Options" like the pro version gives you. It just gives the option to save with converted textures into PNG files or not.

I tried reversing the faces so they are the correct way, and it does nothing to the exported OBJ file. Still adds why too many edges.

      Any other ideas?

    • Exporting Sketchup to Maya

Ok, I am not that big of a newbie to SketchUp, but I am when it comes to exporting models into other formats.

I am using Maya 2013, and Make 2016 and I need a way to export my models so I can import them into Maya. I have downloaded the OBJ exporter and it works perfect, only problem is it add way more edges into the model than what SketchUp even created. So is there a way to export from SketchUp to Maya while retaining the exact model without adding extra edges when importing into Maya? It is a little frustrating when I have to go through after importing into Maya and delete all of the useless edges. Even on basic objects it does the same thing. Here are 3 sample images of what I am encountering.
