    • RE: Changing the Geometry...

Thanks for the plugin in TIG, I'll have to check it out.

Though the ExtrudeEdgesByRails plugin isn't what I am looking for. What I am trying to do is after using the simple loft plugin, or your plugin, I want to edit the hidden geometry of the shape. In all of the images attached to your thread, and in all the shapes that I have created, the hidden geometry is triangulated surfaces. What I am trying to find is a plugin that will allow me to change the hidden geometry from these triangulated surfaces into a different shape (a series of hexagons for example) so that when I convert the hidden geometry to a series of tubes (using a plugin like "convert arcs, circles, curves, lines to cylinders") I am left with a mesh that is made up of a series of hexagons, not triangles. The "Terrain Reshaper" plugin allows something like this, but you can only convert the mesh to a different size and shape triangle, no other shapes.

      Is something like this possible?

I have I not worded what I am looking for properly?

      Thanks,
      Matt

    • Changing the Geometry...

      Hey all,

I have recently been using a few new scripts to try and create different types of structure models.

I have been using Chris Fullmer's "simple loft tool" plugin to create organic shapes, as well as the "convert arcs, circles, curves, lines to cylinders" to transform the organic geometry I have made into a structural model based on the hidden geometry that makes up the organic shape.

There are a few limitations in doing this though, as the structural model that is produced is only based on the hidden geometry that makes up the organic shape. I tried using the "terrain reshaper" tool to get a different hidden geometry build, but this is limited to recreating the geometry of the organic shape into triangulated surfaces. Is there any plugin, or trick out there to be able to take an organic shape I have made by lofting several lines together (similar to t-spline modeling) and define a shape which makes up the connections (or hidden geometry) of the shape? Similar to parametric modeling how you can chose a component shape to make the surface.

Hopefully I have explained this well enough, but just for clarification:
Suppose I wanted to make an organic shape having hidden geometry that was instead a series of triangulated surfaces, into perhaps a hexagonal shape so that when I use the "convert arcs, circles, curves, lines to cylinders" plugin, the resulting structural model build of several hexagonal shapes.

      Is something like this possible?

      Thanks,
      Matt
