actually i don´t want control over 2 axes, just one axis. (one time to the left, one time to the right). with the mouse middle button wheel and the thumb wheel you can control 2 axes, just like in any window in windows that let you scroll up and down, right and left.
but the middle wheel is already set to do zoom in/zoom out, which I think is important enough to leave it as is.

RE: Orbiting by thumb wheel
I tried through X-Mouse, to combine the middle mouse button + keyboard cursor movements but it didn't work, don't know why...
The main issue is that the thumb wheel is not a button, and also that the orbiting is done by moving the mouse around (which means, moving the cursor), which the thumb wheel won't do, atleast, i couldn't find a way to get it done.
I think it's something that is easy to achieve, i just don't have the programming knowledge to do so.
Also i'm not sure if the mouse orbiting shortcut is programmable through sketchup or it's a dead end. -
Orbiting by thumb wheel
Hello, i'm now using a Logitech MX Master mouse, I'd be happy to utilize the thumb wheel (it's not a button, just up/down scrolling) to orbit on a fixed axis.
I think it could very comfortable... I tried really hard to config it somehow through windows but without any success, because i can't find how to config the special sketchup mouse mapping and the middle mouse button orbiting feature.anyway, i think this should be open to configuration somehow.
Cheers,
Ohad.
