    • Stupid newbie question - exporting my models

Sorry for asking such a silly question but I am completely new to 3D graphics and sketchup and don't know all the lingo and technology that goes along with it. I am trying to teach myself and it's a slow go (but I'm loving it!)

I have made my first model and would like to share it with people but don't know how to export it as an skp file. I have exported it to 3D warehouse but what if I want to post it somewhere like on this forum? How do I get it here?

Any help is greatly appreciated, I'm just a newbie trying to learn little by little πŸ˜›

    • RE: HELP! Exporting to Google Earth locks me up!

ok thanks! I appreciate your time. I will check out the articles and try a smaller model.

I designed that model off of a photograph I had taken on my last vacation, so I was matching the photograph. I'm still happy with the model for a "first try". It took me forever to figure out the roof...lol.

It's already in the 3D warehouse under "tellico plains cabin".

I would post it here but am not sure how to do that...that was one of my questions earlier...how do I export to places other than 3D warehouse?

    • RE: HELP! Exporting to Google Earth locks me up!

I thought it might have something to do with the size of my model. I imported some 3D warehouse stuff along with it and believe that really enlarged the size.

Is there anyway to compress the size of my model without losing features?

      Thanks for the response!

    • HELP! Exporting to Google Earth locks me up!

I'm a new user to 3D graphics and sketchup and have just completed my first model in sketchup 7(which I am pretty proud of). Here's my problem...I want to export my model to a Google Earth Site but can't seem to do it. I can load my model in sketchup and bring up the location in Google Earth. I can usually even bring the Google Earth site into sketchup but once it's loaded my sketchup completely locks up and I can't move around the model or anything to set it correctly into Google Earth. It usually shuts me down.

I'm working on a Dell Computer, running Windows XP, with 2.96 GB Ram and running 2.79 Ghz. Do I not have the requirements I need to run this?

Please help me out if you can, I love this program and really want to be able to use the Google Earth component. Any suggestions and help are greatly appreciated.

I also have another question (sorry, newbies are annoying I know! πŸ˜• ) I have exported my first model to the 3D warehouse (it's called tellico plains cabin) but how do I export it anywhere else. For example, if I make an animated 3D model and want to play it on another computer, where and how do I export it to be able to do that? I eventually want to be able to make models and show them in court (I'm a paralegal) as exhibits for our cases so I need to know how to do that.

Thanks again for any and all help received.
