I was playing with Didier's Arc script and ended up with a spiral drawn in a golden rectangle. Thought that someday, someone might use it for something so here it is.[attachment=0:1g1p1v9u]<!-- ia0 -->spiral GR.skp<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:1g1p1v9u]

Thanks Jim, Didier is truly the SketchUp Ruby Wizard, we all owe him a debt of gratitude.

• Helps lessen RSI!

Hi Guys,

I came across this site, http://www.ergo2work.co.uk/index.html,
last week. They specialise in ergonomic computer products.

The items that struck me were the Vertical Grip Mouse Aluminium
at Β£40 and the PenClic Mouse at over Β£70, a bit pricey but then
so is a trip to the Chiropractor πŸ˜’

Just for the fun of it I carried out a little experiment (it is
Sunday morning, so no comments about time wasting πŸ˜‰)

To see how well the Vertical Grip Mouse would feel I worked with
my mouse on a mat that was tilted at 45 degrees. It definitely
was far more comfortable.

For the PenClic I just cello-taped a biro to the mouse and played
around a bit. I think it would be awkward if a lot of wheel action
was required.

On conclusion I think the Vertical Grip Mouse would be the best
bet to keep that RSI at bay.

Hi Guys,

I just came across Faceworx, a Freeware program that generates a 3D face / head from side and front face pictures.

I have not tried it yet as it only works with Win XP but I will when I get around to installing XP under Bootcamp on the Mac.

I looks to be fun and maybe usfull. I think I read that it generates a .obj file so maybe it would be possible to get it into SketchUp. Not sure about that though.

Andrew,

My daughter, Shelly (Graphic Designer) did this for me
and made a birthday card. She uses Illustrator for this
kind of stuff.

I'm attaching the full billboard ...... maybe I'll appear

Hi Utiler,

Its good to see forum members posting their pic.
It makes for a friendlier forum I think. BTW I see
you are giving me a military rank πŸ˜‰

I imagine my 'Mayor' title will not be obsolete now

• RE: New 17" MacBook Pro is sweet

I like to leave the MacBook Pro on permanently. I understand
that its the best way to run Macs as downloads and maintenance
can be carried out over night, I think!

Its also a fact that laptops tend to heat up a bit when under
pressure, more so than desktops. I thought one way to keep
things cool would be to have some control over the fan.

I located a utility called Fan Control, it does what it
says. Okay if not on mains the battery life is effected but most
of my time spent on the laptop when plugged in, so no problem.
Also it can be adjusted in on the move.

The links for Fan Control, a free application is,
http://www.lobotomo.com/products/FanControl/

I imagine there is also a free utility for PCs πŸ˜‰

Tom, there would seem to be a lot of freebie .jpeg reducers around, here
is one that I found,

James,

I downloaded and ran the file,

Crowd Test

From Scene 1 to Scene 11 and back to Scene 1

1920x1200 No Shadows 40 sec

Is there some other test we could try with this

James,

If I remember correctly Alan had a SketchUp file that
tested the power of any computer. I think it was 1000
columns or something like that. Does anyone have this
file handy? It would be a good one to use as a standard
test model?

• New 17" MacBook Pro is sweet

I got delivery of the new 17" MacBook Pro last week with
the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with 256MB SDRAM

I find SU easier to work with in the 1920 x 1200 screen,
added to this the possibility of 4Gb of Ram, not yet
installed, it should move along very well.

Can't recommend it enough πŸ˜‰
