Thanks for the suggestions... however i can't get kerkythea to install on mountain lion

I am new to 3d modeling. Just tried Sketchup for about a week. I am trying to create some models for my 2d video game. May i know what is the best rendering engine for pre-rendered 3d graphics? or... perhaps just a free rendering engine that supports alpha background.
