    • RE: [Plugin] 'Camera2Vue.rb'

So, there is no need for trigonometric conversions to convert degrees into 35mm camera FoV, as I feared.

Here the steps to make it work in Vue 7 Esprit.

      1. Run the plugin 'camera to vue' inside sketchup and, when you're prompred to save the python script, save it as simple text by adding the '.txt' extension to the name you choosed to save it.

      2. Open it with a text editor and leave it open.

      3. In Vue just go to the options panel and under 'display options' check -show camera Fov in Object properties-.

      4. Select the camera and copy and paste from the previous opened text all the single values of camera position and rotation, plus Sketchup's field of view in the upper right panel.

      You're done:
      render and enjoy!

    • RE: [Plugin] 'Camera2Vue.rb'

      hi Alex,

I've tested it with Vue 7 Esprit on windows xp: sadly it can't read this kind of python script (see attached image).

Howerer, if i open the python script with a text editor, i can copy and paste the camera coordinates and orientation into the upper right panel of Vue.

Now my problem is how to convert SU fov to Vue fov, since I can't find the the box labelled 'Vertical FoV' in the advanced camera options of Vue 7 Esprit. I'll have to develop a small trigonometric function to convert it.

If this works, and I don't see why it should not (since you tested different combinations of vue + sketchup) thank you very much!

I'll stop to to do the edge overlay by hand, attempting to match the vue perspective with the sketchup output set as background.

I really like to combine sketchup edges with a radiosity rendering of the some view. πŸ‘

      Wow, very nice concept!
Now if someone could do this as a sketchup style...

πŸ‘ great! actually I used the moleskine as background in an animation for a documentary, as you see in the attached image.

Thank you Dave for the kind offer to make a style with it

Karamouza, if you want to make it by yourself the process is easy: just render the moleskine with plain pages (or ruled or whatelse you want) as jpg image, create a new style and use the saved jpg as watermark; then choose a sketchy edge you like and mix them.

    • RE: [REQ] Hdri's

Sometimes you have to create your very own hdri to achieve the right atmosphere in your rendering. Or, if you just want to convert your Vue hdri pics to Vray, you may pick one (freeware) program from the hdri community web site: http://www.hdrlabs.com/tools/links.html

This worked for me when I made the inverse operation - converting some hdri images found on the web to a format compatible vith vue.

interesting idea: i like the conbinations you can make with this modular elements.
What is it desigend for? I cannot exactly imagine what kind of item are you going to show in the glass boxes: it looks to be something tiny and hi-tech like a smartphone or some other electronic gadget.

Let me say that the colors you used are a little bit scary - I would hesitate before entering in this "dungeon" πŸ˜‰ have you thought about some warmer color combinations?

great model! I do love clay renders too - and not only beacuse you don't have to bother about texturing your model - there is a sense of surreal abstraction that makes all the geometries more clean.

btw, is it an indigo rendering?

    • RE: The Castle

      hi Luis,

the walls are very old look greysh. The stone walls are partially covered by a plaster that was white or rose. Since I didn't have a good set of photo references I decided to apply a generic cardboard texture for the esxterior walls, and white paper texture for the interiors. All the wooden elements are texturized with a generic balsa wood.

Where I live, about 90 km far from the castle, the rocks of the Alps look reddish, due to the presence of a certain amount of iron oxides, so that many old castles look brown-red.

Elysium, here are some floorplans, also made with skethup: i find very nice the sketchy styles combined with colored lines.

    • The Castle

      Hi folks,

here some pictures of Castel Belasi, located in Campodenno of the Non Valley, Trentino, North of Italy. They were made for the University of Architecture of Venice.

It was entirely modelled with sketchup - a true hell, since parallel surfaces and square angles are the exception in these medieval buildings, not to mention all the crossing vaults and arcs I had to draw.

Some renderings are made with Vue d'Esprit 6.

Fredo's vector push pull ruby and whaat's profile builder and zorro2 were of grat help.
Thanks for the couple of trees to tomdesk (waiting for your tree set release).
Thank you all, the modelling of the castle would have been longer without your scripts.
