      Paul,

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, the Dell Vostro I purchased does use an integrated graphics accelerator. I, too, thought THAT was the issue. But wait...

I messed around with the WINDOWS > SYSTEM PREFERENCES > OpenGL > and CHECK the "Correct reversed picking driver bug" and UNCHECK the other two [Use hardware accelerator and Use fast feedback]. That did the trick. [Simply checking the bug fix didn't do it...you have to UNcheck the other two options.]

      It's working as it should ... 😍

I am attaching the offending document. Again, the problem is my HOME PC is having "issues" selecting faces.

I have tried the WINDOWS > PREFERENCES > OPEN GL > CORRECT REVERSED PICKING DRIVER BUG. That didn't work.

I've sent an e-mail to SU Tech Support for SU Pro 6 and will let you know what they say.

      Thanks,

      Louis

      Chris,

Thanks for advice. However, the (home) PC I'm using is a current, late model Dell with a dual-core Intel processor, 2 gigs of RAM. I've been modeling on the PC, using AutoCAD and SU, for some time WITHOUT similar issues. On my office PC [an earlier and slower Pentium 4] I don't have the issue.

It seems to be related to HOW I'm creating the model -- or a setting that I've mistakenly changed.

I'm considering removing SU and reinstalling it. What do you think?

      Chris and James....

I'll upload it tonight as a reply to this message string. Let me know if you have the same issue with the faces on your PCs.

I suspect it is a PC-specific issue. I've done a similar test model on my office PC [without ANY issues] that I will e-mail to myself and open it tonight on my home PC. IF I have an issue with the office-generated model on my home PC, that narrows the possibilities [e.g., corrupted SU installation; wide-screen monitor format issue; or, some unknown command issue...].

      Thanks,

      Louis

      Chris,

You bet. I'll be happy to send it to you tonight -- it's on my home PC. What address should I use? It looks like I can "upload" an attachment to one of these messages. If I upload it as an attachment to a Forum message, will you be able to download it and minipulate it?

It's a small model that ONLY contains a few interior walls for a "test" house. [When SU stopped being able to select the faces, I stopped constructing the model.]

I was experimenting with a methodology for rapidly drawing a 2-D floor plan using "parallel projection."

I have NO issues with SU on my older and slower office PC -- using the same construction techinques. Hmmm. My home PC monitor has a "wide screen" display format. I wonder if I have to change an SU settings [or monitor settings] to work with SU.

      Thanks,

      Louis

    • "ISSUE" With Face Selection -- SOLVED (See final post)

      I need your help...

Using SU Pro 6, I created a simple floor plan in the CAMERA > PARALLEL PROJECTION mode by first laying out the walls with the tape measure guide lines and then filling in the room spaces with the RECTANGLE tool. I then DELETED the FACES of the rectangles to keep the edges of what would be the walls.

I then closed the ends and, using the PUSH-PULL, tool extruded the walls. I made these interior walls a GROUP and then EDITED the group to insert doors. So far so good...

HOWEVER...not all of the walls responded to the SELECT tool arrow when positioned over an extruded face. In some instances, the OPPOSITE face was selected -- as though the nearest face was not "seen" by the selection tool.

What could be the reasons why the selection tool will not recognize certain faces when the model is constructed as described? [I suspect it is a setting, which I cannot find.]

      Thanks,

      Lou

    • RE: Can You EASILY Change Protractor Orientation?

      REMUS,

Tnx for your response. What you described is what I typically do.

My confusion began when I noted that the SU "TIP" showed the protractor changing its orientation WITHOUT being moved to a vertical plane -- to force its orientation change.

Perhaps they were taking a shortcut and eliminating the reorientation steps that are typically used? I'm hoping there is an easier way...

    • Can You EASILY Change Protractor Orientation?

I find the "typical" way to change the orientation of the protractor VERY awkward --especially when working with ONLY with a horizontal plane. 🀒

One of the SU "tips" [when you first open SU 6 Pro], is the creation of a sphere from a copied circle. The copied circle is then shown to be ROTATED very easily by rotating the protractor DIRECTLY. HOW did they do that!!! 😞

IS there an easy command or technique -- as the SU tip implies -- to rotate the protractor from (e.g.) the horizontal plane to the red or green planes WITHOUT moving the protractor around in space until it converts to a vertical orientation?

      Thanks,

      Louis πŸ˜•
