When I use top-view in Layout, is there a way to show where the windows and doors are? Most 2d software has lines at both edges, how to I indicate this using layout's 2D views?

This seems easy, but:

when I drop my drawing into layout, it is not square to the axis. When I straigten it out, then click on top view, it skews about 30 degrees. I want a non-perspective top-view with the floor plan square to the paper. Is that too much to ask for? HELP please!

I checked out your tutorial, but it wasn't clear top me what software you were using to create the wood image with.
