The trees are great, where did they come from?

RE: Captain James Cook Cottage
I agree, you got to stop at some point, though did you purposely spell my name wrong or is it just a humorous mistake? Either way it did make me laugh. Did you model the roof tile or is that a displacement texture or photoshop, it looks great no matter which way you did it.

RE: Twilight render
Great stuff, I love seeing great images from twilight, it shows how powerful of a plugin it is (with a great price too [I know it might sound like it but I don't work for them, just a happy customer]). I love the concrete wall texture in the last image as well as the material behind the bed in the second last image.

RE: Captain James Cook Cottage
Awesome render, I think the brick and stone materials turned out great(even if they are exactly like the original). Which rendering program did you use? I think the update has a much better background. My only crit is the vines, they are well done but could be improved a little more. There are just a few edges that give it away as a photoshop job. Cool project.

RE: Film Institute - Uni Project
wow these are great renders! +1 on loving the exploded isometric. The only odd thing I can point out is the rain render doesn't really fit with the rest, still a great image though. Good job!

RE: Thank you SCF!!! This is what I've learned from here
Tails, it's the last link in my post, you have to scroll down and download the plugin which will create a teapot, cup and spoon.
I posted a fully textured cornhole game the is in the exterior render in the components section of the forum here:

Cornhole game
Hopefully you kept your mind out of the gutter... As I found out went I moved down here this is a popular game Americans like to play, especially tailgating. I decided to model it for a project of mine I posted here:
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=33659Thought it would be a good first post of a component to the community. All the textures are from: http://www.cgtextures.com.
Enjoy,

Let me know if the link doesn't work, or if you have any comments, it's my first post like this
Oh and if you want to know more about the game: http://www.playcornhole.org/

RE: INTERIOR
Great image, I really like the lamp shade material. Did you model the pillows in sketchup? I've only attempted pillows a couple of times in sketchup and have gotten ok results.

olishea's treelines can be found at his post here:

You can buy solo's plant's on his website:
http://solosplace.com/3Dgarden.aspx
The rp tree maker can be downloaded here:
http://www.renderplus.com/wk/RpTreeMaker_Free_w.htm
The cup was made from a plugin created by a member here, thomthom you can find it here:
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=24079The birds where just a quick google image search and the appliances came from the 3d warehouse, everything else I modeled, hope that helps.

RE: Thank you SCF!!! This is what I've learned from here
Rich, I agree with you the water does seems like thick oil. The problem I ran into is that the water is pretty shallow in the scene and with a better water material you would see the bottom of the lake too well and I didn't have time to make that area look convincing. I did use another water material in my other scenes and it doesn't look as oily but they still have a similar problem.
Thanks for you comment

RE: Thank you SCF!!! This is what I've learned from here
Thanks for the comments guys. I guess I didn't learn the rendering stuff here but there are a lot of some subtle things to pick up from each of the gallery's. It is a good starting point though. What I really learned is how to model well, how to push what you can do with SketchUp. What I hope I'm learning is how to create a good architectural visualization by bring life to a scene, creating an appropriate atmosphere and give it a little extra edge with some post-processing. Now that this project is over I hope to participate in the community a little more.

Thank you SCF!!! This is what I've learned from here
I've been on this site a lot in the past year and a half taking in all I can to help push my own abilities with SketchUp. This forum is such a great resource. I haven't posted many images up because it can get intimidating with so many great renderers/illustraters/designers and I wanted to wait until I got to a point where I was happy with what I've created before I posted. So here it is, more or less my first gallery post of images I've created. I see this as the culmination of all that I have learned from my time here.
The project is for a home design competition. It is a lakeside cottage. These are my favorite two images out of nine. If I make it past the first round of judging I might try to solicit votes for the second round... anyhow, I modeled everything in sketchup rendered with Thea, post pro in photoshop. Almost all the plants are from solo's garden pack, the ivy is from the twilight forum, (great program as well as Thea) Pine trees where created with rp tree maker. The background image is one of Olishea's fantastic treelines images. cc's are more than welcome, but be gentle. If there are any questions or interests in something I can share let me know. I'd love to give back to the community.
Again, a big thanks to the whole forum to help me get to this point.
Cheers

RE: Interior rendering for cc
wow, fantastic renders, some insight on how you created these would be great (like how you modeled/textured and any post processing involved) I'd love to see a, just sketchup image, to see the transformation. My only critique is I would have picked a different image for the tv, just having the tv off would work. I think it draws too much attention to it and its not something everyone is into (I know that might sound crazy because Harry Potter is very popular).
Great work

wow Pete you have amazing modeling skills. So did I miss something, is there a SDS v2 out? or are you lucky enough to test it out?

RE: My new external house renders
I really like Solo's 3D plants but I don't know if that's what your looking for.
http://solosplace.com/3Dgarden.aspxHe also hosts Tom's desk 2d plants (link is at top right) but I feel they are best for non-photo realistic renders.
Does the brick have a bump map on it? It seems like it doesn't, they help for a material like that.
