Hi again,
JuJu's proposal of using the units being used by Sketchup would be the most intuitive. For using standard sizes I would imagine that an open approach would suit most users.

Hi Medeek,
Super plugin, just bought it...
Would you consider a metric version in the near future? It would be very helpfull to the "metric world" of designers.

Hi,
Any chance this will work in 2015 Pro...?

Hi,
I have probably missed it, but is there a possibility to make insulation hatches with this plugin?

Hi.
I'm afraid I don't have any collaboration in plan for that plugin.
Helps, ideas and suggestions are always welcomed though, and I thank you for your
input so far in this matter.Best regards /

You has a very subtle problem indeed !
A Ruby script is typically in "UTF-8 without BOM" text-encoding format.
When you edited it with Notepad and saved it, its format changed to "UFT-8", which corrupts the text so it then fails to load properly...
I will PM you a suitably encoded copy...
Can I suggest you get "Notepad++" [free].
It has special Ruby Syntax highlighting etc and you can set it to always open/save files with the right encoding...
Thank you TIG,
It works like a charm, and I will rush to get Notepad++ to avoid this in the future.
Thanks again to both and have a fine day,
Jesper
Hi all,
it's actually kinda strange that when I take a fresh copy it works fine, I can use €, $ or SEK in settings and it works fine. When I do a Ctrl+H (replace) with case sensitive selected and replace all instances of SEK with kr then I get the error meassage and even when trying to reverse by asking for a change back from kr to SEK, I still get the error. Tried to change from SEK to NOK, same issue..?
Best regards

The error-message suggests that you have mis-edited the code...
Get a fresh copy and with it opened in Notepad do a case-sensitive find/replace forSEK
and substituteKr
- in every case - that's all that's needed...
If it still fail;s then can you post the line/s you edited [and the lines either side of it/them] - exactly as they appear [copy+paste] - use a 'code' formating tag...
Alternatively PM the whole file to me - don't post it all - it's confusing for members when faulty scripts are hanging around...Hi TIG,
Followed you advice to take a fresh copy, replace SEK with kr (case sensitive) but still get this error meassage when opening Sketchup 8 Pro after the change:
Error Loading File C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/examples/exampleScripts.rb
undefined local variable or method' for main:ObjectError Loading File examples.rb undefined local variable or method
' for main:ObjectBrgds

Just for clarity, it works fine without any changes.

Did you tick the box for Ruby Script Examples under Extensions?
You changed your post while I was typing.
Do you have full administrative rights to the Plugins folder?
Hi Dave,
Yes, I did tick on the Ruby script Excamples ans yes, I have admin right to the folder and file.

Hi Dave,
I belive I have followed every instruction, but I must have overlooked something as I can't get it to work, get this error measage:
Error Loading File C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/examples/exampleScripts.rb
undefined local variable or method ' for main:ObjectError Loading File examples.rb undefined local variable or method
' for main:Object
I have used "kr" as currency, edited the example.rb in notepad, changed as advised. Replaced the script file and restarted Sketchup several times.
Hope you can help.

Hi all,
Any good ideas on how to get all the manufacturers on a global scale to place download sections of their products on homepage or even better in a global 3D Warehouse as Google's?
I have in vain tried to convince manufacturers like Hitachi, Liebherr and others to give access to low poly 3D models of their equipment. We are in the business of producing methods statements and we find that 3D drawings for visualizing the processes on a construction site is so much better than any other means we have used so far. Sketchup is really useful and easy to work with compared to many other 3D CAD packages, but there is a serious lack of models to download of real equipment and to scale so it is possible to show true to scale models in different positions when making methods statement and workability analysis.
Does anybody have any success in getting manufactures to give access to their products in 3D?
One should think that manufactures were eager to use the platform to promote their products, but it rather seems like they are afraid that the 3D models are used to make cheap copies of their products – not that I believe that a copy of a 80 ton excavator comes cheap regardless of being a copy or not and what prevent anybody from taking the same data from a real product and copy…?

Hi TIG,
Voila... that did the trick, now I get the decimals, also from the model that is geolocated so this is really a big help. Can't thank you enough for your kind assistance.
Have a lovely day,

Hi again,
Just a question, is it somehow possible to force the numbers of decimals to say fixed 3 decimals on all the 3 figures (LLZ)?
Best regards
Jesper
Hi TIG,
Yes, one could wonder what happened, I believe I just did as you instructed, changed the "," to "\t" in the first line and "csv" to "tsv" in second line, but something must have gone wrong. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I did a classic! I was too quick to use Notepad to edit the rb file and forgot to remove the "Use always this program" så now all the rb files is shown as "Notebook" files... (
Here is the result of the new file you made:
7,0 129,0 0,0
6,0 140,0 0,0
0,0 138,0 2,0
0,0 140,0 2,0
15,0 196,0 -1,0
1,0 180,0 2,0
22,0 169,0 -1,0
-8,0 168,0 -1,0
21,0 189,0 0,0
-16,0 180,0 0,0
As you can see it still round up all figures, so it must have something to do with the exporting as Sketchup itself shows it with 3 decimals, the setting is with 3 decimal in Model Info and it can't have anything to do with Excel as the file now is exported to a text file... this is strange...

Hi TIG,
After changing the file it now says: exportcpoints2csv.new
Error: #<NameError: undefined local variable or method `exportcpoints2csv' for main:Object>

Hi TIG,
Strange... Yes the Ruby Console shows the same as in the csv file, it has removed the decimals and rounded up on all figures....

7.0,130.0,0.0
6.0,137.0,0.0
6.0,140.0,0.0
4.0,140.0,1.0
0.0,138.0,2.0
0.0,140.0,2.0
15.0,196.0,-1.0

Hi TIG,
Need to bother you a bit more. I have now relocated the model to the 0,0,0 in Sketchup World and placed in the right height to be able to take out the Z value of the CPoints only in this location.
Could you have a look to see what is wrong - as it just won't work...? I still get only the Z values rounded up to nearest whole number... even as you can see from the with a red circle marked point the values in querry shows -17.482, 197.420, -1.293 (lon/lat/Z)
Best regards
Jesper
Hi again,
Ok, so I will have to re-locate the model and then make a sort of converter for the data that I take out from the cpoints to be able to reference them back in their origins. Reason for the csv file was to have the correct Lat/Lon and Z data so it is possible to continue work with them in AutoCad Civil 3D that our surveyors use. It is a bit strange that the Lat/Lon data comes out fine but not the Z levels, when it is possible to see the right level in a Querry from the tools menu, but that's probably something that we normal mortal creatures should not understand anyway... :O)
Thank's again for all your help, it's really appreciated,
Best regards
Jesper
