Yes, it is a demo of gif animation. πŸ™‚

The demo in the animation, is of a karate style that has deep roots in jujitsu, hence the aikido like technique. The key to the technique is the timing to intercept the kick by the body while the kicking leg is still bent. Doing so while advancing, mutes the kick, and unbalances the kicker. It is then a simple matter to hook the attacking leg. Actually, the point of the demo was to show how important it is to walk naturally, while focusing your attention behind the attacker, and not on the position of the kick itself.

The raw footage is from a video recorder filming at 30 fps. The animation plays back at 5 fps, providing the opportunity to take the technique apart. Until I animated the sequence, I had not noticed how the technique was executed. Martial arts training is such that you stumble through, eventually getting it by perseverance. Sometimes I think that its the stumbling that's important, not the technique itself.

    • RE: [Plugin] FreeDXF Importer

I have a old copy of volo, but it was a popup that prompted a activeX download to then open the dxf to view. Are they related?

Btw, Jim, do you know if the majority of the non text/dimension entities in your reference file are polylines?

I just accidentally discovered that you can drag and drop some dxf files into IE and it will open to view. Jim's reference file opens, but humpmetwice's doesn't. Is it a Acad created file?

The hits have gone up, so changing the subject worked.

I like animated gifs, because I can adjust the timing of individual frames for analytical viewing. I use "Microsoft GIF Animator" for that.

No, I'm retired, but having just faced a hard drive melt down, I need incentive (any kind of award) to mess with my registry.

Love that car. What is the car's back glass reflecting? Is the model enclosed in a room?

Rich, I can see that you have never faced many self inflicted catastrophic disasters on your system. These tend to shrink the contents of ones sack over time, unless one is a pinhead incapable of responding to negative reinforcement. Hmm...which one am I today.:)

    • RE: The Youngest Architect in Sketchucation

When a senior in Architectural school, our final project was graded by the "Grand Old Man of Hawaiian Architecture". It was a closed jury, we waited with baited breath, only to learn that he put us down without mercy. I was pissed at his arrogance, and dismissed what he said. I am now probably as old as he was at that time, and completely relate to his review, Sigh. The rocky road will never be paved.

    • RE: Selection box has gone haywire after upgrade to Windows 7

From what I have read here, the Intel on board chip set is problematic. Maybe your old OS's implementation of OGL worked well with SU8, but not the new OGL, which is part of the new OS. You could try to down grade the OGL (I have no idea how to do this). However, the least expensive graphic card will often work with OGL enabled.

No not reimporting, but while SU is open, purge the registry by hand, then from SU, "save toolbar positions". If the admins offer me a "no guts, no glory", "official sketchulocation award" for my signature, I will try it. πŸ˜„

Are you licensed? My college professor told us that when you get licensed, don't forget that you have met the minimum requirements for being a Architect. OH Well!!! It never ends. In my experience, the least you know, the more you are capable of achieving.

Is there a way to first sort the face designations alphabetically, then check and erase duplicates. Perhaps with the help of a .exe program? Btw, can reordering the data base with another program, make viewing it faster?

Sorry, today is my day to be off the wall.

Well, I am guessing that the mess is made by changing the menu positions from time to time. Hmm.....Still requires someone *else* to go first. :(

I may be a complete idiot with this question but would there be any way to export the current toolbar settings (like you can export shortcuts) then do the registry cleaning and the reimport the toolbar settings?

Just guessing, but if you open SketchUp with the menus in their proper positions, then purge via "regedit" all the registry "ToolbarsUserCustom-BarXX", then from SketchUp "Save Toolbar Positions". Everything will be back to normal. Now only problem is, who will go first?-)

Maybe Admin can create a "No guts, No glory" award that can be part of their signature.
