    • How do I make CutList out of an existing model?

Hi folks. Ok so I've just downloaded the CutList plugin and I'm hoping to use it on a model I've already created. Does anyone know if this is possible? It seems each part of the model needs to made into an component before it can be read correctly by CutList. Does anyone know of a way to break down my existing models into parts that I can make into components? It feels as if this could be a very time consuming project and might almost be worth starting again... unless one you you geniuses can save me!

      Many thanks,
      Gus

    • RE: Deleting lines make planes go grey?

Ok, fantastic... thank you. That was the first time I realized you could actually share the files. On that note I was wondering if it is possible to share those files between PC and Mac? For example I was hoping to install my pro version on my boss' Mac and be able to send him .skp files for him to do walkthroughs with clients. Is this possible?

      Cheers

Oh I see. I didn't know you could share the models like that... Very new to this! Happy to share an skp but like I say it seems to have done the job...

    • Deleting lines make planes go grey?

Hi, I'm finding when I delete unwanted lines from planes where I've made adjustments the panel will go a different colour, like a kind of grey. Sometimes the panel doesn't act the same as it did before, causing me to have to rebuild models in some cases. Can anyone offer me any clarity on why this happens and a way around this please?

      Hope this makes sense!
      Cheers

You think it'll be ok? Sorry I'm totally new to this. It is acting strange when I try to box off certain sections the whole thing fills in... I'm not making any sense am I?! πŸ˜•

    • Plugins etc for carpentry work?

      Hi folks,

Ok, so I'm very new to all this. I've just purchased SketchupPro and a Premium account with SketchUcation. I'm a carpenter and my boss want me to learn this stuff so I can do his designs for him. Has anyone got any tips for me to get the most from the software and forum, ie. useful plugins and whatnot?

      Many thanks in advance,
      Gus

    • How do I explode dxf floor plan?

      Hi guys,

Ok so I have imported a dxf floor plan from which I intend to create a 3D model of a house. The tutorials I've watched tell me to explode the image, but it just won't give me the option to do this. I'm working on a PC... any ideas?

      Cheers

    • Importing PDF floor plans...

Hi folks, I'm using a PC and having trouble even seeing my PDFs when I try to import. I'm assuming I need to convert them to another format. Does anyone have any advice on what is the best format and any safe free (or cheap) software for converting them?

      Many thanks,
      Gus

Yes it looks perfect. But how do I start off? Do I pull a rectangle out first?

    • Making rounded corners without a flat surface

Hi, I'm having trouble rounding the corners on this windowsill I'm trying to make. I can round the corners and push-pull it out, but then I haven't got a flat surface to apply my curve to. I'm sure there's an easy way to do this but I can't get my head around it!

      Cheers

Ah-ha! Thanks so much guys, that's fantastic. It's funny how I get stuck on things for hours and then see what I was doing wrong and the same thing takes seconds to do.

      Nice one πŸ˜„

    • Intersecting models whilst in a group

Hi guys. I recently did a sketchup course and the guy showed us how to intersect models, but he did it after he had made the objects a group. I can't seem to make this happen now I'm back home. Which means I can't seem to keep the geometry where both models intersect. I hope this is making sense to someone, I'm very new to this language! Can anyone offer any advice?

      Cheers,
      Gus
