Blender is improving really fast...
I really hope someone adds Sketchup-like modeling to the toolbox...
I wish for this every day!

Find an AMD Ryzen based unit. The AMD graphics are better than Intel, any day.

I really wish I could do my rendering environments this way. You can't export it. Maybe I could put my buildings INTO it instead.
This is how I have done it so far. I export to .obj and make sure the textures and obj are in the same folder.
I then bring the file into Blender to check the textures. I also do a bit of scaling to bring down the size. I save to obj again.
Then bring it into Flowscape. Not always 100% but getting better.
Here's one I did with a model of Amon Hen I down loaded from the web.

Ah, yes as a developer I can see Rhino's draw. I have FormZ as well and it's taken some time to learn it's way as opposed to SU's way. I do like FormZ's openness to allowing their free and Jr versions to be used for ANY purpose, even commercial. I also like the included tool set missing from SU, stairs, walls, nurbs, etc..

... I installed the Rhino3D evaluation. To put it mildly, I'm very impressed...
You should give MOI 3D a try as well. It is developed by a former Rhino developer.
MoI is a new 3D Modeling/CAD application for designers and artists. Offering a blend of precision and freeform NURBS drawing tools, it sports a unique user interface that operates seamlessly with a pen tablet.

Could someone ban this guy? I mean posting photos as renders is NOT cool!
D@mn good stuff sir, d@mn good!

Coming back to the OP, I find Blender3D to be really capable. But unless there is an add on like VisualARQ for Rhino or Layout for SU, I wouldn't consider B3D as an overall package for Architectural work.
Agreed and so far the few "architectural" add-ons are difficult and cumbersome to use, imo.
When one is finally made to mimic SU's interface it will be a game changer.
These guys had something in the works but no updates for a while
Edit: Well it was for Unity but still very cool.

blender corporation themselves. They would have given it to some company who would most likely be not remotely related to what's going on at the conference in the first place.
You're missing my point. WHY do we need to see him at ALL. We are NOT watching a "motivational" speech we are watching a demo about 3D software. There is NO need to see the person at all
Once again, a stupid trend (imho) and one almost as bad as holding your phone up to your face (walking/sitting/driving) in speaker phone mode
I'd be more impressed if this fellow would have NOT felt the need to have himself in the video (a stupid trend imho) covering up his "bullet points". I mean why do we NEED to see him talking when we can hear him just fine?

Really cool stuff. To me I am getting a 'Half Life 2' vibe from them. Again, great work!

thank you very much Paul...seems like Im going for this...hope it will work
Plenty of cores with the Ryzen 7
Not a bad choice.

Forget the Quadro cards, they won't show any benefits in SU or for rendering over their GTX or RTX equivalents. Apps have to be specifically written to take advantage of the Quadro cards....
This! Also no need to pay extra for Xeons either. The ever so slight bump not worth the increase cost. Just got a new Dell Precision 3630 at work. 8th gen i7-8700, 32 gb ram, 512 m.2 nvme and rtx 2080. Should run smooth for 5 years like my old box.
Thanks Mike, I think it's coming out well myself. I must have just gotten lucky as this was pretty easy or it seemed to be. I really want to use it to make 3D walk-thru of projects for departments here at work. So far they have looked awful
Small update, model finished but now playing with textures. The brick arches are a pain but coming along as free time allows....render in Twin Motion
Thanks all
