      Hi All,

Just wondering if someone could please help me out with this please, I'm using the free download Sketchup and notice that I can't export the files to PDF format unless I'm using Sketchup pro. Is there anyway possible I can export or convert my sketchup drawings to PDF format?

      Thanks

    • Changing to a plain view

      Hi,

I was using sketchup 5 but recently downloaded google sketchup 7. I was just wondering how I can change it so that when I open it I don't have the picture of the man and the grey back ground? I found if I change the template from mm to meters that get rid of the picture and get the white background but I want mm not meters.

      Thanks for your help,
      Geoff

    • A little help please

      Hi everyone,
I'm trying to design a TV unit and I'm slowly learning some things about how to use sketch up and have started to draw the unit - the problem is i want to ad a door with a window drawn separately and dragged into place onto the unit as when i draw it on piece by piece in place it really mucks things up.... can someone help me please? I'll attach the picture to help with my problem.

P.S how do I attach a picture i've drawn in sketch up please?

You'll want to place the different components (legs, slats, etc.) on different layers, and turn the layers on/off as needed in the pages.

Do you know of any video tutorial links that can show me how to do that?

      Thanks

    • RE: Creating scenes in sketchup 5

      Hi again 😳

I'd like to make like a slide show - or something like a power point display of something I want to draw in sketchup. I sort of want like a step by step display if that makes sense??

What I'm trying to achieve is I'm drawing a bed OK, and I want the first scene to be of the legs along with a measurement beside it and then the next scene to be like the side slats with the measurements beside them and so on and so on and finish with the bits and pieces put together as the complete structure. Maybe it would be easier if I knew how to explode a complete drawing and add the measurements and details to that....??

      Thanks in advance gang

In SU5 it's not called "scene" but "page"... πŸ˜‰

      Hi folks.

If you want to avoid drawing the lines, suggested by Alan, one by one, see the attached SU file for ideas.

Jean, I have Sketchup 5 and can't open the attachment.

      Cheers

An even easier method, if you wanted the planks to appear mitered ...as in barrel staves...would be to simply use a circle, as shown. If you wanted to show separation on the top edge, you just draw in the lines joining the outer and inner circles.

      Thanks Alan

Thanks Gaieus. Yes that's exactly what I want to achieve. How would I draw that? Is there a specific video tutorial for drawing something like that?

      Hi Geoff,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean to model but is it something like this attatched?

Hi Gaieus, Mate I can't open the attachment you sent me as I have Sketchup 5. Is there some other way I can open the file?

    • Creating planks on a circle

      Hi all,

I'm wanting to draw up a wishing well I've been asked to make up and I'd love to draw it in sketchup first. I'm wondering how I would start a drawing like that? If I created a circle first and then used the push/pull tool to make it the desired height and then make a rectangle to the height and with of a plank to go around that circle?

I've tried to attach a picture of my sketch to help explain exactly what I'm trying to achieve but can't do it, so some help with that as well please πŸ˜›

      Cheers

    • RE: G'day from a new user

      Thanks all,

I now have sketchup 5 and I'm finding that when I do a measurement that 1: it's in feet and inches and not the metric system I want and 2: it doesn't show in the bottom right hand corner like it does on the free download sketchup.

Can anyone please tell me how I can change the measurements to metric and how to display it in the bottom right hand corner please.

      Thanks
      Geoff.
